I am looking to purchase a used car from a private party that is for sale in W-S. This is too far away for me to bring to my mechanic to take a look at, so I am looking for someone there I can take it to.

Swagger Wagon -- nice.

Not sure if they're still there but when I was an undergrad, there were two old men running a Phillip's 66 station right across the street from the Student Apartments. They were awesome and very fair and very reasonably priced. Granted that was 10 years ago so probably not much help, but maybe worth looking into.

Don't know if it's the same folks, but College Garage (I think that's the name) is still running. Seemed fairly good when I dealt with them. Best mechanic I have found is in Kernersville. Derrick @ Triad Import Specialists. Don't recall the name off the top of my head (been a while), but he's honest, affordable, and seems to do a great job. By far the best mechanic experience I have ever had. Everyone raves about GT Imports, but I have dealt with them in the past, and Derrick blows them out of the water on price and honesty.
