A former East Carolina University quarterback is facing charges after police in Roanoke Rapids arrested him today.
Patrick Pinkney was charged by police on eight counts of larceny by employee. Police say Pinkney was an assistant manager at the Belk Department Store in Roanoke Rapids and say he is accused of stealing nearly $4,200 from the business.
Detectives say they started investigating the possible embezzlement back in September. Pinkney is accused of stealing money from Belk on eight different occasions since February. Police say the former quarterback began working at the store in May 2010.
Pinkney was the starting quarterback for ECU from 2007 to 2009 and is fourth on East Carolina's all-time career passing list behind David Garrard, James Pinkney, and Marcus Crandell.
Pinkney was released on a $4500 unsecured bond and has a December 14th court date.
