The BCS expert Brad Edwards is on Mike and Mike right now and said he thinks if Arkansas beats LSU (at LSU mind you) LSU would still be ranked ahead of Arkansas in the BCS standings. So, Arkansas who is 3rd in the BCS right now could go to #1 LSU and win, yet not jump ahead of them in the BCS???? What a system!!!

He also said if LSU beats Arkansas and loses to Georgia in the SEC title game, the BCS title game would probably be Bama v. LSU, neither of which would've won their conference. However, for some reason I have much less of a problem with that than I would Arkansas beating LSU at LSU and not jumping ahead of them in the BCS standings.

THAT CAN'T HAPPEN ...

If LSU loses to Georgia in the SEC championship game, then the two team per conference maximum comes into effect. Georgia goes. That means only LSU or Alabama could make the BCS, not both. Bama could be #2 and not get to play in the BCS because of the two team maximum. Who would have ever guessed that it would be possible for two teams to be ranked #1 and #2 teams in the country, yet neither one of them would have won there conference championship.

Not according to Edwards, Georgia would go Sugar, and LSU and Bama would still meet in the title game. Maybe there is an exception for the title game???

Evidently there is an exception to the 2 team maximum rule for this very scenario.

EDIT: There has been some confusion as to how three SEC teams would be given a bid. According the BCS rules,

No more than two teams from a conference may be selected, regardless of whether they are automatic qualifiers or at-large selections, unless two non-champions from the same conference are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the final BCS Standings.

There is a clear and specific exception to the two team maximum specifically addressed in the BCS rules. Should Georgia win the SEC and two of the other schools are ranked 1 and 2 i the country the first and second ranked teams would play for the National Championship and Georgia would play in the Sugar Bowl.

This is by rule.

Now THAT is fucked up.
