Just passing on the warning that Google's posted for those that still visit that site. The UNC Scout site has the same warning.
Results labeled "This site may harm your computer"

We want you to feel safe when you search the web. We're continuously working to identify dangerous sites and increase protection for our users. The following warning message appears beneath the title of search results we've identified as sites that may install malicious software on your computer: "This site may harm your computer."
If you click the title of the result, you'll be shown a page with the following warning message at the top rather than being taken immediately to the webpage in question: "Warning - visiting this web site may harm your computer!"

You can choose to continue to the site at your own risk by copying and pasting the web address directly in the address bar, then pressing Enter on your keyboard. However, be aware that malicious software is often installed without your knowledge or permission when you visit these sites, and can include programs that delete data on your computer, steal personal information such as passwords and credit card numbers, or alter your search results. For more information on these types of sites, please visit StopBadware.org

My guess is it's the same problem they had before- having to do with the ads that Scout is running. If you visit the site you'll probably need to get something like script blocker. I don't think you can turn off all scripts as some have to be turned on to view the board. Anyway, if you've been on it recently you might want to consider running a boot scan to make sure your computer is clean. When this happened a year or so ago over there I ran normal scans with malwarebytes and avast and they didn't get it. But the boot scan did. Unfortunately boot scans take a long time.

It's from the ads.

And those of you who want to rail on scout for this should be first in line to pitch in when the owners of this site request funds to keep the site running ad-free.

Wow...the security software on my computer will not let me even go there.

i'd defs pay a couple of dollars a month to keep this site ad free.

If these guys decide to go to ads I'm fine with it. I'm confident if something like this arises with ads on here they'll be far more transparent and proactive about the situation.

I got a few virus from there before the switch. Been virus free since. Haven't gone over there in several weeks. Nice to know some of you still give it traffic.

More embarassing...

Taking your computer to your IT department because of a virus and they discover you have been looking at porn.

Taking your computer to your IT department because of a virus and they discover you have a bizzillon posts on an internet message board?

Definitely the message board- everyone has looked at porn on the internet. By the way, the only reason I knew about what was going on with the Wake Scout board is not because I visit it but because I refuse to bookmark this site. I waste so much time on here I figure if I make myself google the term "wake forest forum" I'll spend less time. :D So yeah, definitely the message board.

We've talked about it in the past, and would prefer to fight tooth and nail to not have ads unless it becomes absolutely necessary.

What about when the virus from the message board keeps giving you popups that are blocked by the company's IT department for adult content?

Because that's what the Scout virus did to me.

So the warning was lifted last night and cagle later posted a comment from Scout about how it really wasn't a virus at all but some ad code which was misinterpreted and fixed. Of course, there are people all of the interwebs talking about how they were infected with a virus from scout yesterday so the scout story is complete BS.

Now the google warning is back up.

Scout deserves to be run out of business. If cagles was smart, he would make a deal with the rivals guys and switch over there.

That is one healthy pile of bullshit right there.

Just non-stop IP glitches over there.
