20 of the 39 TD passes in the NFL playoffs have been caught by players from ACC schools

In fact 11 different players from ACC schools have caught a TD so far in the playoffs.

1 by Eddie Royal - Virginia Tech

1 by Will Heller - Georgia Tech
1 by Jerricho Cotchery - NC State
1 by Demaryius Thomas - Georgia Tech
1 by Torrey Smith - Maryland

20 - ACC
3 - Big 10
3 - Pac 12
3 - SEC
3 - Big 12

Pretty sure that over the last 10 years, only the SEC has produced more NFL players and the numbers between the ACC/SEC are surprisingly close.

The problem with ACC football has not been the level of talent, but how the talent is coached.

Look at Russell Wilson. He was solid ACC QB, but not a major difference-maker at NC State. At Wisconsin, the same player led Wisconsin to the Big 10 title, and two hail marys from a NC game.

In TOB's defense, Wilson was surrounded by vastly superior talent @ Wisconsin...

This is a pretty good thread actually. I had no idea that the ACC had produced this much talent at the NFL level.

NFL players generally do well in the NFL. The thing is it's primarily on defense with some at WR as this thread shows. The ACC hasn't done well at QB and RB compared to other conferences.

Saying Wilson was not a major difference maker at NCSU is like saying Chris Barclay wasnt a major difference maker at WF. Neither had enough help but both were supreme talents.

Ya think?.....

Haha. ACC players.

You RJKarl'd this.

6 out of 32 NFL starting QB's played at ACC schools by my count. Granted only 4 actually played in the ACC.

ACC: Schaub, Ryan, Rivers, Vick, Ponder, Hasselbeck
SEC: Manning, Manning, Newton, Stafford, Tebow, Grossman, Cutler
Big ?: Brees, Brady, Henne
Pac12: Palmer, Sanchez, Rodgers, Cassel
Big XII: Bradford, McCoy, Freeman, Gabbert
Other: Dalton, Romo, Fitzpatrick, Jackson, Smith, Kolb, Roethlisberger, Flacco

Do we get credit for Tyler Palko yet?

Exactly. SmallsamplesizeDeac could have weighed in on this too.

This is pretty much the golden age of ACC NFL QBs.

Probably have to put T.J. Yates in there as well.

As for backs... ACC had Frank Gore in the mix. Ahmad Bradshaw started at UVA but could not break the lineup and ran into some trouble off-field --wound up with Marshall, I believe.
