This isn't really the thread for this discussion but I do understand why populism from both Trump and Sanders, challenging the neoliberal status quo (through very different means) is dangerous and lacks sense for centrists. I therefore understand why it's easy to make facile arguments like the Horseshoe Theory lumping leftists in with right wing extremists. Still, if their means and ends are so different, I'm not sure why it's useful at all as an argument unless you're willing to acknowledge it's because you're heavily invested in the status quo. And the status quo isn't working for millions of Americans. And so long as centrists continue to ignore that part of the country willfully, shunning the left who (like much of the center) wants to do something about inequality and health care, you're helping the far right. Of course on this board you're likely to get the opinions of about the 75th% and above, socioeconomically.
