CBM Thread: Peacemaker Season 2; Gen V Season 2 (Sept 17); Marvel Zombies (Sept 24)

Doctor Strange had its international release this weekend. So beware of online spoilers, except for this about the number of mid/post credits scenes:

2

The movie made dollah dollah bills yo. Actually, more Korean Wons rather than USD, but still...

I attended one of the limited participation early screenings for Dr Strange tonight. I won't put any spoilers here, just will note that it is really worth seeing. The special effects are the real star of the show. IMAX 3D really helps make the movie.

It is a little slow at the beginning, but picks up once Dr Strange starts his journey to try to heal himself.

Yes, do wait through the credits. There are things worth seeing after they are done.

Honestly, that trailer isn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be.

So AOS is taking a four week break presumably due to the election and Thanksgiving. Kind of a Ep 6 cliffhanger. I guess there will be another four week break around Christmas and that will make up the 8 weeks Agent Carter lasted. So then AOS will return in the Spring much earlier than before.

I'm not all that into the main plot this season. It's fine and it's a good break from HYDRA, Inhumans, and Ward. It's just not great. Everything else is good. Director Mace is a nice addition. The rest of the team fits in a good place. And Ghost Rider is quite compelling. Strong start to the season.

I would be totally on board with Jessica Walter playing Morgan LeFay in the MCU's Dr. Strange sequel.

Still slogging through Luke Cage. My complaint is still the same from the other Defenders series. Too effing long. 8-10 eps is all we need for these seasons. 13 is just overkill and leads to all filler, no killer. Cage isnt as bad as JJones in that they dont catch the bad guy and inexplicably let him go 3-4 times so they can stretch the story, but all the filler with the IA investigation, all the lame back stories, they are just incredibly superfluous and boring.

Well The Defenders will be 8 eps so there we go.

Good to see Christopher Chance show up on Arrow. Human target was an underrated show that was cancelled too soon. The first season in particular was very good. I recommend checking it out if you haven't seen it.

well, certainly looks to continue the trend of WW being the best DC character on screen at the moment

Chris Pine really got some clunkers in that trailer. "Weapons far deadlier than you can ever image!" Oh, ok.

Yeah really. That's a great trailer. Backless dress with a sword sticking out. Damn.

Wonder Woman looks like DC's response to Captain America which is a great template to follow. She's a woman outside of time/place in WWI. Early talk was that this film would take place in Themyscira, WWI, and modern day. I hope they cut modern day out and saved it for the sequel.

Marvel is on one hell of a hot streak since Age of Ultron kinda meh'd out. God, that was good. See it in IMAX if you have the opportunity. Worth it.

Saw Doctor Strange last night and thought it was pretty good!

Saw it in 3D this morning and it was very good. Compared to the other first solo films, it was clearly better than Thor and Hulk, not as good as Iron Man and Captain America, and probably on par with Ant-Man.

Cumberbatch was really good. The Stark and Iron Man comparisons are overblown. This movie and his character stand out. His American accent wasn't as unnerving as I expected (for example, I find Hayley Atwell's American accent quite strange). About halfway through, I realized it's because Cumberbatch sounded very much like an American actor who would have been good in this role about 20 years ago. Don't want to color anybody's perception, but I'm curious if anyone agrees. PM or rep me if you think you know who I'm talking about.

Definitely stay through the credits. Both do a good job of setting up Phases 3 and 4. I think the first one may be a scene from a future film similar to the Ant-Man post-credits scene from Civil War.
