CBM Thread: Peacemaker Season 2; Gen V Season 2 (Sept 17); Marvel Zombies (Sept 24)

I think the next two Spider-man movies will turn a profit. They made a good choice by doing a trilogy focusing around Gwen Stacey that will keep the story somewhat fresh.

But who are these spin offs going to focus on? I have a hard time seeing a Venom movie carrying widespread appeal. Silver Sable and the Outlaws are complete unknowns to most people. Black Cat is a Catwoman knock off, but I suppose that has some potential to be a minor success. Is there an audience for Spider-man 2099 or spider-girl?

I imagine Spider Woman belongs in Avengers world. I too am disappointed to see this franchise not revert to Marvel Studios.

All those others mentioned above? No way they could support a movie. Heck, even I don't know who the Outlaws are. Of course, I would have shown the same skepticism about the Guardians of the Galaxy's ability to support a movie, so I may be lacking vision.

Oh yeah. AS2 could be a joke as well. Marvel* could come up with a multibillion dollar buyout pretty easily.

*Disney

Spiderman absolutely prints money. Kids absolutely love him. Disney could turn such a huge profit on Spiderman. The last Spiderman trilogy was Pearl Harbor level dogshit and it made $Texas.

The Outlaws are a souped up version of Silver Sable's Wildpack and includes Sandman, Prowler, Puma, Rocket Racer and Willow of the Wisp.

Arrow just puts on a clinic in how to do comics on television every week. I actually felt the episode was a little weak, despite another great villain from The Count...and then they bring that last ten minutes. It seems like the dots are starting to connect on everything.

This was actually the first episode in a while that I thought was pretty bad. The count was ok, but the courtroom scenes were just awful. I think the move going forward should have just been with the new big bad instead of the reveal at the end.

Although, is the work being down by Brother Blood and the return of the supposedly dead Malcolm supposed to link to Ivo's work? I can see the connection, but I still don't like bringing Merlyn back - connect the dots but I think bringing him back is cheap

I think it all links together. Merlyn obviously is linked to R'as Al Ghul (they're introducing Nyssa in a few more episodes). I think eventually you'll find that Ivo and Brother Blood and Merlyn all link back to R'as. Maybe their plan is to use this formula they're teasing as the stand in for the Lazarus Pit. I know they're introducing Cyrus Gold as the "Acolyte" but it's also possible he gets offed and comes back as Solomon Grundy. I'd also speculate as to how this impacts Slade as well. I have to wonder if he's going to pop up in the current day happenings. Either way, I have to think it all comes back to R'as.

With Slade, I've been wondering if he goes crazy with pain/jealousy and turns into deathstroke. Deathstroke is too big of a character to have such a short arc as he's had in Arrow and Slade Wilson is Deathstroke's name in the comics, not Mr. Bigglesworth or whatever they called Slade's partner. That coupled with his half burned face makes me think he get caught up with the League of Assassins/RAG like Sarah did and comes back as the real Deathstroke

No need to use spoilers to discuss Arrow.

Sarah asks Oliver "what happened to Slade?" I assume that Shado meets an untimely end and Slade blames Oliver...creating Deathstroke. They also had the helmet on the beach the first episode if the season on the island. I assume Oliver ends up having to kill Slade...then maybe he returns as well. Like you say, I think it all goes back to R'as.

Thor was fantastic. Loved it, had humor throughout and Loki is irresistable.

Not sure why Thor picks that one skinny chick over the other bad ass one.

Yeah, I thought Loki really stole the show in this one. The Captain America appearance was pretty funny.

Is anyone willing to make a case for "Tomorrow People" and/or "Almost Human"? I haven't watched either but they both seem like something I might like. Alternatively, they both look like something I might hate. Just curious if anyone had thoughts on them.

There's rumors that they will basically introduce the rest of the JLA in this movie. They're going to cram too many characters into this thing and it's going to end up being awful.

Jamie Alexander who played Sif in Thor lobbied for the part. She would have been a much better pick.

I saw Thor 2 over the holiday. Thought it was okay. Really hard to do Thor on earth without getting corny, and they got corny. The whole plotline with the underwear dude with his tiny sticks being able to zap the enemy was pretty flimsy too. And the credits scene was super corny. Del Toro and his female assistant looked like they were both lifted directly from Earth Girls Are Easy. That's not a compliment. Starting to worry that as this whole franchise is starting to get overbloated like the original batman run. This whole Thanos space plot thing has the potential to really turn corny quick.

Sif is fucking smoke tho.

She would make a boss WonderWoman. Gotta wonder if she signed a no-compete for DC projects.
