CBM Thread: Peacemaker Season 2; Gen V Season 2 (Sept 17); Marvel Zombies (Sept 24)

I think it's going to make $750 million in its sleep even if it's awful and up against Captain America. Warner knows this. I'm sure it would love to make a billion dollars, but anyone with half a brain sees what's going on with this setup and is skeptical at best. Whether it makes $750 million or $1 billion shouldn't matter for a JLA movie getting made.

BvS is going to make a shit load of money. I'm willing to bet it won't be "terrible." There's too much on the line here for it to be a shitshow. I think that's why they pushed it back a year, to ensure that they weren't rushing into things. Snyder learned from MoS, a movie that cleared $668M. A direct sequel to that would probably come in at somewhere near $600M. But, you add in Batman, Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, the promise of a franchise being set up, I can easily see it hitting $800M. And that's if it's just "good." If by some chance it really clicks with audiences, I would have no problem seeing it cross the $1B mark.

I've also heard that WB will absolutely not move it from that date, and that Marvel is more likely to consider a change for Cap 3.

The Winter Solider hit $704M worldwide.

Man of Steel earned $668M worldwide.

Cap 3 is going to get a strong lead in from Age of Ultron. Marvel may expect a jump like Iron 3 got post-Avengers.

Here is a Forbes article from two months ago when Marvel original announced Cap 3 would go against BVS.

And here's an article from a month ago where the Disney CEO sounds like he is struggling mightily with the decision. One of these two will move, I have no doubt about that. I would put Cap 3 at about a 75% chance to be the one right now.

Oh I know. I saw that news a month ago. I'm just saying that Marvel doesn't really need to be scared. They don't really need to bury WB either. Good comic book movies are good for the genre.

Which would be more likely: Cap moves back a week to get out ahead of BvS or Cap moves forward a week to try and extend their tail?

Yeah, neither of them should be scared, they will both make their money, and as the article said, it would be better for both if one of them moved so as to ensure they both make the maximum amount of money. BvS is going to make more opening weekend, Cap 3 could beat it out in the long run, but I think BvS will be enormous. Anyway, they don't open for 2 years so this topic is kind of silly right now, lol.

Looking at Summer 2016, I think Marvel or DC should both consider moving back. It is stacked with big money sequels. If The Winter Soldier could make $700M with a late March international and first week of April domestic, they could probably do very well on April 8, 2016.

April 22 - The Mummy reboot
May 6 - Batman V Superman
May 6 - Captain America 3
May 27 - Alice in Wonderland 2
May 27 - X-Men: Apocalypse
June 10 - The Amazing Spider-Man 3
June 17 - How to Train Your Dragon 3
June 24 - Finding Dory

June 24 - Finding Dory blu ray city

I've added my one cent

Those are all sequels or reboots of movies that did very well (or expected to do very well in the case of X-Men and How to Train Your Dragon 3). I've never seen the first How to Train Your Dragon. It obviously rated very well. My kids would love something like that. I should probably show it to them. Without a Pixar flick, they don't really have a big summer movie to look forward to like last year.

I'm still concerned. Seems like it is gonna rely a lot on Chris Pratt. I like Chris, he's a great TV actor. Does that translate to the big screen? It worries me that the other characters don't get much treatment in the previews. Hopefully the raccoon guy is a hit, I'm skeptical.
Also, the stereotypical music drives me nuts. Hooked on a Feeling and Spirit in the Sky? Its all been done before. Come up w/ something original and hilarious. Kind of like "This is the End" used Backstreet Boys, that was funny as hell.

I'm gonna see this movie but I feel like there are a ton of alarms going off even from a slick trailer like this one.

They're trying to appeal to a mass audience that might not be inclined to see an oddball comics-inspired movie. That's why we get Spirit in the Sky, more Pratt and less Groot.

People are so dumb. But I guess 2 and a Half Men was the number one show on TV for years, so you're absolutely correct.

The Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack is trying to establish Chris Pratt's character. It's a mix tape he had with him from when he was abducted decades ago. That walkman and the mixtape are the only things connecting him back to Earth.

This seems like a weak nitpick anyway. The Iron Man movies haven't suffered from using AC/DC on their soundtrack.

Pratt is sadly probably the least known actor on the team. I doubt he'll dominate. I assume they're banking on Rocket and Groot to move merchandise anyway.

I don't follow WWE but I know it has a big following, bigger than Parks and Rec.
