Our Next BB Coach or #MannUp + other coach talk

Jason Capel hasnt done much at appalachian but hes a great coach, Pat Kelsy is the man

Dang, my guy Brett Reed almost knocked off Shaka in Richmond.

Nice win for McDermott against a pretty good Indiana state team. Agree with daaberry on Paulsen.

Bump for Paulsen. Just a quick rundown i read - Won some hardware in D3 (2 titles), expert on motion offense, also wicked smaht as he went to Williams. Does Skip's son still coach at Bucknell?

I believe Lehigh's stud went down in the first half.

Sleeper Coach Tracker: 1/9
-Michael White (#93 La Tech): W 55-52 @ #163 Texas Arlington. Now 3-0 in conference, projected 23-8 (13-5), 2nd in the WAC behind Denver. Favored by 10 at #268 Texas St tomorrow.
-Ben Jacobson (#98 Northern Iowa): W 70-60 @ #69 Illinois St. Upset win moved them up 10 spots. Now projected 16-14 (9-9). Favored by 5 against #115 Evansville tonight.
-Andrew Toole (#158 Robert Morris): L 77-70 vs #199 Central Connecticut. Surprise loss dropped them 15 spots. Now projected 19-11 (11-6). Favored by 7 @ #300 Farleigh Dickinson tomorrow.
-Chris Holtmann (#172 Gardner Webb): L 93-81 @ #248 Campbell in triple OT. Loss dropped them 18 spots. Now projected 18-12 (10-6). Host conference favorite UNCA tonight, favored by 1 point.

With RW hiring Jim Caldwell and keeping him here for 8 years with a 37% winning percentage, what makes us think Bz is going anywhere soon since he was hired by RW and has near the same winning percentage?

Bucknell is 13-3 - just lost a heartbreaker to Missouri (in Columbia) by 2.

Pretty impressive rebuilding job that Paulsen has done at Bucknell.

There are tons of arguments for why RW won't get rid of Bz. This is not one of them.

Definitely. Would like to see him win without Muscala though. Would not fit the young/energetic/fiery mold most of the fanbase seems focused on.

Might as well be. Wrong records on my part. Caldwell was 26-63 overall for 29.2% and 12-52 in ACC play for 18.75%.
Bz is 28-48 overall for 36.8% and 5-28 in ACC play for 15.1% going.

Since the last check in...

Ben Jacobson and Northern Iowa have moved up to #79. Lost a close game to Evansville, kept it competitive against Creighton, and demolished Bradley. Projected 16-14 (9-9). Looking unlikely he earns a promotion to the ACC this year.

Andrew Toole and Robert Morris rattled off 4 straight conference wins, 3 by double digits. Currently ranked #142, projected 21-10 (13-5), 2nd in the Northeast conference.

Chris Holtmann and Gardner Webb have struggled recently. Yesterday's 1 point home loss to Radford dropped them to #188. Projected 17-13 (9-7). Looks like he'll need some more time in the Big South.

Michael White is hot right now. LaTech has won 8 in a row, including 7 straight to begin conference play. Projected 24-7 (14-4), 2nd in the WAC.

Another name that should probably be on this list is Gregg Marshall, as he has moved Wichita St into the top 25. Now 17-2 on the year, projected 25-5 (14-4). This would give Marshall ~110 wins over the past 4 years.

One more name I've stumbled across: Steve Pikiell. Relatively young guy with major conference experience (played and coached at UConn in the late 80s and early 90s). Took over a Stony Brook program that had never had a winning record (in conference or overall), and was on probation because of APR issues. It took some time to turn the program around, but now he's on a roll.

2010: 22-10 (13-3), won America East regular season title, lost in the conference tourney semi
2011: 15-17 (8-8), lost (by 2 points) in the conference tourney final
2012: 22-10 (14-2), won America East regular season title, lost (by 8 points) in the conference tourney final

He's had Stony Brook knocking on the door of the NCAAT each of the past 3 years; this year could be the breakthrough. Currently 13-5 (4-1). Projected:

2013: 22-7 (13-3), projected to win the America East regular season title.

His Stony Brook Seawolves are currently ranked #68, which would make them the best team in America East KP history, a couple spots better than the Vermont team that famously upset Syracuse (remember TJ Sorrentine?). Should return 5 of his top 7 next year too.

It's about time for Gregg Marshall to get an ACC job. I don't care if he is a bad interviewer or is kind of a dick, he has won a lot of games.

The saddest thing about this thread is that, should RW finally decide to set the Bzzzz horse out to pasture, he will again play the egotistical control freak and appoint himself president of a one-man search committee. All the lousy coaches in the world must be drooling at the prospect. Wonder how many of them are old buddies of RW?
