Ongoing gun violence/injury thread

That wasn't my point at all.

My point is that two people in an open carry state were gunned down by police simply for having a gun that wasn't even a real gun.

You'd think the gun rights crowd would be outraged at such of blatant disregard for second amendment rights. But they're not and elkman has no response either.

Fair enough. I should have said "a legitimate point is still there." I also agree with your point above.

What would the NRA's reaction be if police shot an open carry protester? Honest question, the NRA might fight the government, but they seem pretty tight with the police. I have no idea what they'd do. (Though I'm sure it would be something.)

Sooner or later it's going to happen, and the response will be interesting.

I feel confident the phrase "jackbooted thug" will be used. If it happens while President Obama is still in office, the words "socialist" and "dictator" will be used as well.

I doubt it will happen. There have been plenty of open carry protests and it hasn't happened yet likely because of their cozy relationship with the police.

What if the protestors are black?

question is, why would the police shoot an Open Carry protester? even though i disagree with their tactics, their "protests" are usually just walking around or standing around with rifles. i did a cursory search and couldnt come up with a story where there was a conflict other than counter-protestors getting upset. they're not out there throwing bottles or setting up blockades

I was thinking more of the dudes at Chipotle. What if one was walking home, someone called in to the police that a scary guy was walking around with a gun, and police showed up and shot him immediately?

"(CNN) -- At least four people are dead after shootings in three communities near Philadelphia in what a law enforcement official with knowledge of the investigation says appears to be a domestic dispute."

He killed his ex wife, her mother, grandmother, sister and husband, 14 year old niece, injured 17 year old nephew. Dropped his kids off at the neighbor's this morning and hasn't been seen since. Scary.

Iraq War veteran. It's a shame how many times this is going to happen in the next decade.

And I'm pretty sure those costs weren't in the Iraq War budgets.

One of my idiot neighbors across the street thought someone was breaking into her house through the basement door at 6:30 tonight. She decided to Rambo up and attempted to shoot them through the garage door. Never mind that she couldn't actually see them. All she went by was she heard "Mexican and some noise at the basement door." So she starts shooting through the aluminum garage door(next to the basement door), which allegedly scared them off.

The cops couldn't find where the bullets ended up. Needless to say there are a bunch of pissed off neighbors who aren't amused that someone indiscriminately fired off multiple shots in the dark at people she couldn't possibly see.

Shit like that is going to lead to a stray bullet hitting a neighborhood resident.

She was cited for discharging a firearm within 300 feet (IIRC) of a dwelling in the city limits?

I assume you will send her a hand written thank you note.
