Ongoing gun violence/injury thread

The gun lobby uses anything to strike fear into their people. Any actual gun control measures would result in a short term spike in gun purchases. That's not a reason not to put some measures in place.

agreed. cash in pocket and gun off the street win/win.

Right. There isn't a perfect time coming up for this until Back-to-School, except maybe Valentine's Day or Memorial Day for vacation money.

It is also driving up the prices. My business partner just sold an AR-15 (legally through an intermediary with an FFL) that he bought for $800 for $2200.

yeah but money is good anytime. Especially a no questions asked cash for guns deal. Eventually the bad guys and potential bad guys would take the money

Don't even act like those 2 year olds wouldn't just get guns from the black market regardless.

you wanna know what really keeps the govt. in line? Freedom of speech and the right to assemble. the first amendment is what protects americans, not a misapplication of the second

I really think we just need more guns. These toddlers are blowing their brains out because they are playing with just one gun. If they had two, they couldn't pull the trigger.

the number would be eleventy billion if we had less guns

Obama earned an "F" from the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence.

He has only made it easier to carry guns since his post-2008 grade.

No arguments from me. He has done a piss poor job on that front.

Of course, 18 months ago we said he had done a piss poor job on the equality front as well, and then he went and repealed DADT and came out in favor of same sex marriage. So there is still a possibility he can turn things around.

what is your point?

Nothing new to any of us. No real point other than to show (again) how our politicians, regardless of stripe, define "leadership" as the capacity to determine which way the wind blows.

in these instances where a child shoots themselves with a gun found in the house, how many of the gun owners would have considered themselves "responsible" gun owners prior to the incident. whenever something happens, these so so-called responsible ones come on here and say, "well if they were a responsible gun owner then they would've..."

Also, being a responsible gun owner is not a requirement to own a gun. We should take the responsibility out of people's hands when it comes to kids.
