The Naval Support Activity Bethesda said at 2:55 p.m. that base security had cleared the basement of a building where the report of an active shooter had originated, and that there was “no indication so far of an active shooter.”

It had previously told everyone on the installation to “go to the nearest available vehicle, structure, or building that provides a measure of protection and lockdown.”

Jeremy Brooks, a Naval Support spokesman, said someone reported an active shooter was in the basement of the building. Law enforcement is working to clear the remaining portions of the building, he said.

A man shot his wife to death and wounded two others Saturday morning before fatally shooting himself in Grand Prairie, police said.

Officers were called to the 2100 block of Spikes Street around 7 a.m., where they found four people shot inside a home.

George Velazquez Viera, 38, and Jessica Velazquez, 36, were pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

The two survivors, another married couple who were not identified, were taken to a hospital with gunshot wounds. The wounded woman is related to Jessica Velazquez and was helping her move out.

Fire chief facing charges after allegedly pulling gun on 12-year-old Boy Scout

On Nov. 4, Woodlawn Fire Chief James Kutz told police he believed someone was trying to break into his home, according to court paperwork.

His wife heard the door handle rattle and when she looked outside and saw the boy, he ran away, officials said.

Kutz followed the 12-year-old to the house next door, then pulled a gun and ordered the Boy Scout to get on the ground, the paperwork says.

The Boy Scout said he and another juvenile were in the neighborhood hanging flyers on doors for their annual food drive.

"A MnDOT traffic camera was rolling for the slow, snow-filled commute. As cars crept along, a Toyota pulled over in front of a pickup truck and a school bus. That is when the driver, who police say was 31-year-old Kenneth Lilly, got out and immediately started firing. "

Yes, there was a child on the school bus.
