Ongoing gun violence/injury thread

This one really sucks and hits me on so many levels. I have loved New Zealand since I studied there, and I am devastated right now. There is no other country I have been to where I felt safer walking down the streets. For tragedy like this to strike in such an accepting country is heartbreaking.

For those who do not know, Christchurch is a resilient city that has been rebuilding itself after a devastating earthquake that left much of the city in rubble. The city and people have been rebuilding and moving back, including many new refugees who moved to New Zealand from the Middle East. New Zealand's relation with Islam is much different than our own, Muslims make up a large population in the cities. The biggest star athlete in New Zealand right now is Sonny Bill Williams, who converted to Islam years ago. The culture is prevalent and accepted in much of the country.

While the South Island, where Christchurch is located, has had a history with White Power groups, nothing like this has been seen before in the history of the Country. This Terrorist was not acting alone, he worked with others, he planned it with others, he was supplied with weapons by people in New Zealand and committed this horrible act with others. This can not be written off as just some lone crazed lunatic. This shit needs to stop.
 
The shooter had a 74 page manifesto with common US white nationalist themes.

“Portions of the ghastly attack at the downtown mosque were broadcast live on social media by a man who police confirmed had also released a manifesto railing against Muslims and immigrants. The 74-page document states that he was following the example of notorious right-wing extremists, including Dylann Roof, who murdered nine black churchgoers in Charleston, S.C., in 2015.

The manifesto, littered with conspiracy theories about white birthrates and “white genocide,” is the latest sign that a lethal vision of white nationalism has spread internationally. Its title, “The Great Replacement,” echoes the rallying cry of, among others, the torch-bearing protesters who marched in Charlottesville in 2017.”

He cited Candace Owens as inspiration for the attack in his manifesto.

Candace Owens, when this was pointed out to her, wrote tweets with laughing emojis as an apparent write-off, instead of, you know, just simply condemning the attack.

Right wing America, ladies and gents.

Where do we draw the line? Because im cool with cutting out the north part of VA and then re-annexing WV into southern VA and sending that part with you guys.

Yeah I want to keep the 4 Corners states and Wyoming, those places are beautiful and the South doesn’t deserve them.

3 dead 5 wounded in tram shooting in the Netherlands. Sounds like Islamic terrorist attack, but details still emerging. Suspect originally from Turkey in custody.
