Surely you’re not trying to use that statistic as evidence that we do not have a white male gun problem. Then yeah, I’d be having difficulty with the illogic of your tribble math
 
A significant subset of white males in this country feel “pushed out” and discriminated against, Junebug. They have online communities like 8chan and others that allow them to vent and then it snowballs to anger and then to action in many cases. That’s the point re: white male fragility. And easy access to killing machines allows them to act out their ignorant victimhood grudges. And republicans don’t want to do shit about it.

Republicans want to distract (MENTAL HEALTH!!!) and obfuscate the stats (see junebug above) so that they can privately reassure their donors that they won’t allow anything to change. Or in dumbass Trumps case, they say the private parts out loud in public to the head of the NRA

Well your numbers, while technically close to accurate (your favorite kind of accurate!) aren’t really representative of who mass shooters actually are.

Non-Hispanic whites make up about 60% of the population of the US, a significant drop from around 72-75% that you claim the upper reach of. Additionally, males make up almost the entirety of mass shooters. Women are around 51% of the population, and extrapolating that roughly over the 60% of the population that identifies as non-Hispanic white, around 29-30% of the US population is non-Hispanic white males.

Going further, FBI data suggests around 3-4% of mass shooters are female based on data current through 2017. If we also extrapolate that across your shooting data, it would suggest that 29-30% of the Us population commits around 61-62% of all mass shootings. Now I tend t think this is on the low end of estimating mass shooting demographics, but even so, it’s pretty clearly your numbers don’t say what you think they say.
 
Junebug trying to win a game of semantics is the problem. White males with fragile egos blaming everyone but themselves and then acting on it is a problem identified by the Law enforcement. Further, they’re acting on it at sacred places like schools, churches, synagogues, places republicans supposedly hold dear. Yet they don’t do shit about it because they care more about some bastardized view of the second amendment and the almighty dollar. That’s the story.
 
One obvious solution is to get on 8chan and other sites and go get the people who are planning these shootings and radicalizing these loser white guys. But the FBI specifically said they’re not going to do it because those people are Trump’s base. Thankfully it looks like they’re starting to root out the most egregious ones but there’s plenty of work to do.
 
For the record, (a) Junebug's statistics don't even support his semantics, and (b) I'm all for outlawing the semiautomatic handguns that are probably used in most "black on black" crime. Civilians don't need those any more than they need AR-15s. The self-defense "needs" of any citizen can be served with a revolver and the hunting needs of any citizen can be served with a bolt-action rifle and a pump-action shotgun. Semi-automatic firearms are just a part of the fantasies of fighting back against a "tyrannical government" or defending yourself against a squad of action-movie ninjas invading your house.

And sure, they're fun to shoot. As part of our "well-regulated militia", gun enthusiasts should be free to possess these weapons - as long as they are safely stored at licensed shooting ranges. The "militia" can go pick up their guns when the government needs their help in repelling an invasion.

Police arrested Rodolfo Montoya, 37, at his Huntington Beach residence Tuesday after he told a co-worker at the Long Beach Marriott that he was planning to "shoot up fellow employees and people coming into the hotel," said Police Chief Robert Luna during a news conference.

According to investigators, Montoya was aggravated over a dispute involving the hotel's human resources department and was planning to seek retribution. Police say one of Montoya's colleagues reported the threat to police, an act authorities credited with thwarting what could have been a massacre.

I think there was an incident not too long ago where a couple of non-students came on campus and shot some kid in cold blood. So maybe they are trying to look out for people like that? Could also be that Hatch realizes the kid would probably be alive if he hadn’t made a deliberate strategic decision to reduce security. The blood on his hands thing is a bit unsightly.
 
But universal background checks. banning high capacity devices and military weapons is bad????
