Ongoing NC GOP debacle thread

I mean, does it really matter if there is one less congressperson from NC? Given the general costs of elections, I can't say I disagree with McCrory here. At least on the face of things.

I'm sure citizens from the 12th district would appreciate some representation in Congress.

November is a long time from now. There's no appointee?

Obviously NC GOP wants one fewer Dem in Congress. That's an insult to democracy.

Look forward to seeing the usual suspects defend this.

Elections are expensive but democracy isn't cheap.

"RALEIGH — Gov. Pat McCrory's administration spent months discussing a South Carolina Indian tribe's proposal to build a gambling casino in North Carolina, an idea that the governor's office later downplayed as a “local initiative” after news of the plan surfaced, the News & Observer of Raleigh reported.

Internal documents released under the state public records law show the talks about a proposed casino in Kings Mountain off Interstate 85 started in April, included two of the governor's top economic advisers and covered revenue sharing that could have meant millions of dollars for the state treasury, the newspaper reported Sunday. McCrory aides twice briefed the governor and communicated regularly with attorneys for the tribe.

News that the Catawba wanted a casino about a half-hour west of Charlotte surfaced in August, drawing objections from social conservatives and some state legislators. The following day, an internal McCrory administration memo told officials to emphasize that “the governor's office has not actively engaged this project” and “never had any direct contact with the Catawba tribe.”

NC Senate candidate says "Food Stamps enslave people."

Maybe Hagen wins.

I can't fathom how Aldona Wos still has a job (other than an administration displaying the worst brand of cronyism I've ever seen). McCrory is straight up clown shoes.

And here after JHMD assured us that the GOP was here to clean up Raleigh and stop that kind of cronyism in its tracks

Pretty hard to pin the computer system debacle on Wos. That thing has been under development for 6 years or something and was in an advanced state of FUBARness before McCrory and Wos hit the scene. They identified it as a big problem their first week on the job.

Why didn't they repeal and place it?

And yet they implemented it anyway.

Also, jhmd must be McCrory.

According to spokesperson Kim Genardo, McCrory based his logic on “personal stories he’s heard.”

How...how did this man become Governor? What a massive disappointment. This is going to be a real make or break year for him.
