Redskins Name Change Thread

With Dan Snyder's history most people assume everything that team does is fucked up or ends in failure.

I still hate the Redskins so hopefully the Washington football team continues to suck forever.

Several damning stories in this WaPo article. Snyder propositioned a cheerleader on behalf of his friend, the “official ophthalmologist” of the team who had performed LASIK on that cheerleader the year before.

“We have a hotel room,” Snyder said that 2004 night, according to Scourby. “Why don’t you and Tony go upstairs and get to know each other better?”

We're getting pretty close to what forced Jerry Richardson to sell if not passed it already.

Was JR forced to sell the team by the league or decide to do it himself. Can't remember.

More stuff on "dirty Danny" leaking out.

He settled a lawsuit with a female former employee for $1.6 million. The allegation was that he directly harrassed her, then had her fired "for cause" shortly after she filed suit. Part of the settlement changed her departure to "voluntary resignation" and she got a glowing letter of recommendation from the team president.

ETA: The lawsuit was settled under seal in 2009. Details are leaking out, in part, because of the current lawsuit described below.

The three minority partners, who collectively own 40% of the WFT are suing Snyder as well, because they want to sell and his antics make it impossible for them to find buyers.

Does Snyder actually want to sell? Seems like anybody with the money would be interested in buying an NFL franchise.

Danny does NOT want to sell. The three minority partners, who hold 40% don't want to be partners in a Snyder run team.
 
I have a tough time believing they have a tough time finding buyers for their shares. If anything it's easier because WFT could be "down" due to the antics.

They may have difficulty finding people who will pay what they want to sell for, and be willing to put up with a racist, misogynist majority partner.

The minority partners lawsuit against Snyder will put more dirty laundry out there. This is just the beginning.

This evening it was announced that the NFL has added former Attorney General Loretta Lynch to the investigation of Washington ownership fight.
 
Apparently the minority owners have a buyer but Snyder won’t approve the sale.

Agreed that this is the beginning. This a stain on the shield, and the league will now start building its case like the NBA did to get rid of Sterling. I think this also might be a reason as to why they've put off the name change.
