Online Virtual Coach Simulation

Man, that's a really good class. Wow.

I've got to figure out how to tweak my formula. I'm not happy with it. I've got to look at HS Info and other factors.
 
I've got to rethink my system. All the players in the #1 ranked class (Norman Sooners) were decent players in my system but on the Top 75 list. In other words, they were as good as advertised. I've got no way to account for volume shooters.

I'm not sure about mine as well.

I had Cade #5, Jones #10 and Simmons #102. I would have expected for the #1 class Simmons would be higher, but I suppose 2 elites could do that. I had a top 10 class with Riddle +7 ranked #12 in my system and he had 2 guys ranked higher than Riddle.

There are some issues with my system though, particularly with guards as the following posted on DTL's site shows:

Andres Holley 6'3 G +9 - My system had him #33
Bryan Vawter, 6'2 G, +10 - My system had him #13
Hayden Martinez +7 - My system had him #73
Jacob Nelson (Clear): 6'6" GFEEEE +9 - My System had him #1
Connor Favors 6'2" +7 - My System had him #34

This issue though is likely because I'm not currently taking position into account for the rating system so guards get dinged on rebounds. Of course, these guys could be fibbing about their recruits too. Though I see no reason to do that.

Another class to compare:

Oh baby! 2/3 class for Jefferson City...Broke out 3/3 tie and 1/1 tie then got one of our clear leads.

My system had Nelson #1 and Trahan #7 and Whitworth #76. Based on that, his class should have been higher than Norman according to my system. So some tweaks are needed.

I need to evaluate a few more players and classes before making changes.

Well, I basically called everything exactly right as far as who I thought I would land and about where my class would have been (had I added Carlisle) but the attributes of the guys I landed were not really close to what I ended up with. The newest Whippersnappers, a 45/45 class:

Samuel Perry - GFFEFF +3. Really thought he would have held in Defense or hands. Really wish he had as I don't exactly know what to do with him now....
Nikola Rouse - FGGGFF +3 As expected, a solid backup type big that can probably play SF if needed. Think I will be able to really "coach him up"
Brett Robinson - FGPGGG +4/-1 A strange set of atributes for Robinson at his SG position. Will help me in some places but hope I don't ever have to start him

SO I was way off on my projections and I don't think my guys attributes match up to a 45/45 class, was thinking that they would have been closer to what I projected to get a top 50 class. Lost almost all of my scoring from last season and didn't really get anyone that can replace it. So i'll be shooting for some impact scorers next season me thinks. This was a class that won't set me back in this rebuild but certainly won't push me forward either. Will be a rough season in Flagstaff next year as we will be devoid of any offense at all. Going to get back to basics and slow it down and grind it out i'd guess.

Congrats to some of you on the really nice classes, will be a fun 4 seasons with those guys.
 
The only good thing I can say about Cincys class is that these 3 will likely not be NA this year. Lost all ties, got my two CLs and a walk on - class is +11/-3. It would be my best class if +5 of that wasn't in rebounding from a 5'11, 6'0 and 6'4 class.
 
85/120 class in St. Martinville, which makes sense because I recruited very conservatively.

Broke a 1/1 tie for Alexander Floyd. He is +6/-1. Unfortunately for a PG, the -1 is INT. I will still throw him in there in the exhibitions and see what happens.

Had clear leads on two others:

James McNichols is +3/-2. But, he's 6'11" with all that +3 in DEF and REB. The -2 is HND and INT. We will just hopefully not give him the ball on offense.

Matthew Maddox is +6/-1. He'll be a good sixth man/swing man.

Getting three competent basketball players was important, and next year I'll roll the dice on finding a stud or two to tie everything together.

Durham Deacon Blues 66

Amarillo's Deacon Invitation got off to a solid start with a 3 pt win over the #1 seed. FR Frank Riddle led the Nightmare with 14 points, but surprisingly only contributed 1 assist. He did so without a TO and added 2 steals and 2 blocks however.


FR Hugh Maly did exactly what he was brought in for and that was 15 rebounds, 1 steal and 1 block. With that he added 11 bonus points.

The team did however really struggle shooting as they went 35% from the field and 2 for 14 from downtown.

Next up a couple of non-Deac opponents and then 3 more matches vs Deacs to start the regular season.
 
Had something really weird happen tonight in the game. Didn't touch anything from the way the computer initially set up my team (wanted to see how that lineup worked) and then went to the box score and the team/players didn't play anywhere near the positions/playing time they should have. And then when I look at how the players are now when I go to my team screen they are set up how I originally had them? Anyone seen anything like that? Seems super weird
 
Happened to me too. Glad it did. I didn't touch it and it put them in better positions, perhaps even ideal positions. And I won.

Looking over my stuff from last season, I realized a pretty big issue for those of us who do spreadsheets. There were two sets of duplicate names last season. Two players named William Williams and two players named Alex Brown. They weren't on my radar, but that screws things up.
 
80/71 class in St. Louis.

We won 2 ties. We got Stephen Ellis and Thomas Robinson. Plus a clear in Angel Franklin.
Stephen Ellis 6-6 +5 FFEEFG Eventually gonna be the PG but this season May be a point forward in the SF spot.
Thomas Robinson 6-7 +5/-1 FGEPEF I'm not sure yet where he'll end up.
Angel Franklin 6-7 +4/-1 FGFEGP Small for the PF but with defence and rebounding as strengths. We'll have to work on his athleticism.
 
Tau must be stacked at Rebounding - I start +6 rebounding and have +5 rebounding coming off the bench and he outrebounded me by 14. His starting PF & C had 31 combined rebounds and my whole team had 32. And my starting C/PF are +3 rebounding. Woof.

Glitch. Mine showed that too in the Box Score - if you go to the players game log, you will see what position they actually played.

Is this confirmed as a glitch? My initial thoughts when reading tau and ph's description were that I believe in nDTL the season-opening lineup is randomly assigned, so that not touching the lineup likely triggered whatever function ensures that abandoned and c* teams don't throw out 6'2 N-Reb centers. If this is the case it would be a nice workaround to get the game's idea of your lineup like we got in oDTL.

In other news, gg warak. I'm excited about my freshmen - I expect they'll be up and down but on a good night, we could be pretty tough.

Wow Myrtle Beach put Amarillo in it's place. Given that we were in the RTT, I suppose it'd be a bit much to expect us to face off against NTT opponents. :) Hopefully we improve in our division and back up this years class with another good one next season. Good luck the rest of the way!

If no one has the HS stats for you, I can export from my database. I don't keep all the columns though (ie. wins and losses). Let me know.

Pretty fantastic first regular season game for the Stillwater freshmen. Oliver had 35 on 15-18 shooting, Franklin added 22, and Garey was an efficient 4-6. All 3 had at least 2d, 5reb and 4 assists. 9 Total turnovers are an issue but its an encouraging start, even against Cincinnati. We're probably a top-100 recruit at Center or a few quality depth players away from an NTT team; if we can address both those issues in recruiting we should have a shot to be competitive at the highest level as soon as next season.

We'll be maxing four big men in search of that starting center but I have no idea who. Lack of scrimmages has made the early recruiting period a lot less interesting for me. I put together a few basic filters for preferences, size, and scout/stat minimums that knock my pool of potential maxes to about 30 or so (as of Monday's spreadsheet) but I haven't even looked at the individual players.
