My team makes no sense, I have two top 25 wins and a bunch of losses to sub 150 teams. I just don't get it.

I think we lost our DeACCon organizer, stormfury, a few pages back. Who wants it?

So far, Durham, Myrtle Beach, Flagstaff are in, and Durham-MB are in same conf so don't play each other here. As of now it is Durham-Flagstaff, MB-Flagstaff.

There is a new league 37 now, btw.

Yeah, sorry I dropped the ball but honestly haven't logged into DTL in a couple weeks. I'll gladly pick up the reigns again once things are fixed or L7 is reopened.

I hear you. It is things like this, and others, that make me think either RNG is not used, or there is an override that pre-determines the outcome - such as forcing upsets.

Also, the correlation of talent to wins is screwy. There are top 25 teams, sometimes top 5 teams, with modest recruiting classes according to the mags. Either the mags are messed up, or there are attributes that the game values more highly than the mags.

Then there is this thread from last year asking if we're comfortable with the randomness of results, implying it can be controlled by his code
http://forum.drivethelane.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=446

If you're RNG based, this conversation doesn't happen. If your guard shoots 45% FG, then you RNG a number 1-100, and if it is <= 45, then the shot is made.

Clearly, I am missing something.

Yeah. I would assume being a Good Sht is related to the probability of a shot going in as controlled by an RNG. Any number of other factors such as the Def of the defender, the quality of the pass or lack of a pass at all, distance, impact the distribution of the RNG.

Makes zero sense. Flagstaff has accepted games for next year with Durham and Cinci, invite sent to MB.

In on the court news, Flagstaff moved to 4-1 in the PTT as a 14 seed with the lone loss coming in the "Elite Eight" game. Maybe my guys only play when they feel like they are being challenged? Either way, looks like I will need to win a tie to bring in a recruit worth a crap this season. My initial optimism for a 6'5 guy playing out of position at PF has slowly faded with each game played and as his stats continue to deteriorate. The projection of him by Huxley on the message board didn't help as he has him ranked as a+3/-1 #518 player in the class. Womp womp.

If I pull a rabbit out of my hat and win the 5/5 tie for Jeffrey Grinstead or the 4/4 tie I have on Francisco Restivo all will be forgotten for this season. Just hope I get something to keep us going for my strong rising senior class and at least give them another shot at the NTT.

Yeah, I feel the same way. I've tried different lineups. Last year's lineup. New lineups. I bring in better players, put the rest of the team in same position as last year (when I was moderately successful), get worse results. The bad thing about the pre-programmed upsets is you don't know if you new lineup failed or if the upset was predestined. Can a team be unlucky and get "upset" a lot? That would seem to be the case with Durham. Or else there is something else we're not understanding - like the mags are off in evaluating recruits (if so, then why have them?), or there is some new element to coaching the game that is not reflected in general recruit class quality (ie, the game rewards good passing, when the mags consider it equal to other attributes).

It’s hard to coach without the HS Scrimmages giving you a sense of strengths and weaknesses coming in.

Yeah, and almost every member of my team shoots FT's -20% from HS FT%. I've started practicing FT's thinking that kmoney may consider it a declining skill if not practiced. FT's are a bug-a-boo with me - IRL and here. Kills me that I can't recruit FT shooting, and that my guys shoot much much worse in college than HS.

Does anyone know if height is a considered in rebounding and shooting, or if stamina has been coded yet? I thought I read somewhere that they were not in the game yet, but there are so many multi-page threads I cannot keep up. that, and my "give a damn" is breaking.

Graduating Seniors 177/191
Devin King...FEFNEG improved in shot to F
Glen Venable GGNPGG improved in shot, Int, Ath
Eric Jones...FFEPEF improved in ath

Glen Venable was only recruited player, a CL. The other two were walk-ons. This was my first class in a full league, and I got caught being too aggressive.
Venable played a variety of backup positions - even if out of necessity - and thankfully he had room to grow as a player.
Last year the team seemed to respond to Devin King being inserted as starting PG, but that mojo did not carry over to this season.
Eric Jones could not keep off NA when given the chance to play bPG. Can't score, can't defend, not athletic. His E hands and Int were not enough.

Recruiting
Jose Mills 6/6 - I lost out on hometown big last year, so no illusions about signing this one on big tie. Lottery ticket. projected: GgFFFG, but 11.5 rebounds is a lot for Fair
Troy Johnson 2/2 - good combo guard who played SF in HS. Projects to FgGFfG, but 20ppg is high for Fair. He may be smarter than F.
Christopher Green CL - better than a big man walk-on. Projects to FgGgFG
John McIntyre 1/1 - solid +3 guard who is playing out of position in HS. No matter, he is Good scouted at GGGPpF.
Nicholas Scott CL - smart and athletic, but terrible hands. He'll be a bSG/bSF. Projects to GFNGgG. Nick and John should both be upgrades over graduating guards.

Best class will be the top 3; worst (and most likely) class the bottom 3; and a middling class would be some other combination.

Last year Durham was 14 - 10, #63 rank, #23 SoS
This year Durhm is 9 - 15, #163 rank, #99 SoS

Ranked 100 pts worse on 70 pts easier schedule with a better team. ??!!:wtf:
By recruit class rank, Durham is #68 this year. Again, outcome was 100 places worse than talent. smh

Time to just write off this year and look ahead.

Durham welcomes a 95/139 class of CL's

Brandon Craft.....GFGEPG I was under another team for him, and he must be better than my net. Apparently they didn't need him. Must be nice.
Christopher Green FFFEGE About as expected. Good shooter, but terrible FT shooter to be Fair overall.
Nicholas Scott....GGPGFG Like Craft, another SG/SF type. Neither can play point. Craft too dumb, Scott has Poor hands.

I can’t complain about missing maxes, but didn’t help out, as I get two max ties and one of my CLs. Granted, I intentionally didn’t go after top players. Cincy welcomes the 90/92 class, kinda sucks that I’m happy about this class.

John Alvarez - GFEFG - at 19 ppg, thought he would get E shoot, but think I can plug him in at the point immediately
Cole Norman - EGPGNG - mish mash of goods and bads, gonna put him as a shoot first SG and see what happens
Stuart Johnson - GGFEPG - he’s got great skills for a PF, unfortunately he’s 6’4. Oh well.

Myrtle Beach welcomes a 113/121 class, right ahead of Durham.

Joshua Moore 6-5/207 GPGFFG I maxed him and got a CL. His numbers dropped after the reveal. I guess it was for a reason. Disappointing reveal for a good Scout G P+ E- G- E-. He'll compete at bSG or bSF.

John McIntrye 6-6/233 GGGPNG I won head to head with awaken. Solid net pickup. He'll compete at bSF.

Marco Kersten 6-1/196 GGGGPF Came in as scouted. Solid pick up for the bottom of my net. I'll play him at bPG to see if he's better than my 4 other possible PGs. But he'll probably be NA.

So it's a +10/-4 class. My worst class, but I'll survive. It still may be better than my departing seniors. The SG was a good player, but the other two were NA. Thankfully my bSG performed well in the PTT so he'll start.

The big story in C10 is that Jackson Five had the #1 class and Clearwater had the #11 class.

Flagstaff continues to get lucky in recruiting. We won a 5/5 tie and a 1/1 tie along with a CL to bring in a 22/21 class that really will help us for the next few years I think. The newest WhipperSnappers are:

Jeffrey Grinstead - 6'11 - 5/5 tie and a +4 overall - Big win here for us on our first legit true "super star" player. At least according to multiple projections. Projected as a +8 by Huxley and a top 5 player I think he will play well above his attributes and should improve that +4 in his training while on campus. Thrilled to have him.

Paul Newcomb - 6/1 - 1/1 tie and a +6/-1 overall - Love the pickup as Paul as he adds yet another exceptional shooter and is a great athlete to boot. Quintisential spark plug off the bench his first few seasons who will get a starting role as an upperclassman i'd guess. Really helped to have this class be more than a 1 player class.

Omar McCauley - 6'5 - CL and a +2 overall. Omar was a CL from the start and as a PF in HS I thought he had the potential to be a +5 or +6 super glue guy who could do it all but score at a high rate. As the season wore on that hope slowly faded and we are now just happy that he's not a complete dud and is at least usable.

Really nice class to keep us competitive and hopefully more. Excited to see what Newcomb and Grinstead bring to the table.
