Caribbean Resort Recommendations

For a couple, the best I've ever been to is Peter Island, in the BVI. You should seriously check into it. Ms. Shorty and I have been there three times and I'm sure we'll go back. The entire island is just the one small resort. They have a ton of cool day trips you can do as well. We've snorkeled out in open waters at Blonde Rock, done Virgin Gorda, swim with dolphins, etc. It's not cheap, but it is truly first class.

That looks very similar to Petit St. Vincent, but probably 2-3 times the size and a little easier to get to. How was the privacy there? About 90% of the time we were at PSV we felt like we were the only ones on the island.

Peter Island has a very private feel, the beach view suites in particular. And NO kids. I haven't looked through their new web site, but the old one used to have an FAQ about kids. The answer was that "...children aren't prohibited, but are discouraged." I've never seen a kid on the island.

No one said Hedonism yet.. This place is slipping

Cap Juluca is amazing. Beautiful beaches. ideal honeymoon spot.
Eden Rock is okay. More of a party scene. St barts beaches are not great or at least not at Eden Rock.
Turks and Caicos- Gansevoort is quite nice and a good distance from the the mega all inclusive hotels
Petite St Vincent is nice. Major pain to get to with all the connections.

I went when I was 15.

I'm looking for a money no object spot for our anniversary. Have been to ritz cayman, cap juluca and regent palm Turks. Any other recommendations out there? Only criterion is can't be too far off the grid - preferably direct flight from clt.

Mustique.

Mustique.

Superb location. Bring your A game and deep pockets. Except that it's further off the grid than HC's looking for. You have to take small charter flight from main airports in the area.

Mustique - Do the weekly rates for a villa include meals? I don't think so, probably a dumb question. Seems as if every villa has a chef included. I assume you pay additional for supplies (food/alcohol) once you put together a menu with the chef.

Round Hill in Jamaica (cab ride from Montego Bay airport).

Would appreciate any recommendations for resorts in the Caribbean for my upcoming honeymoon. Trying to stay away from big tourist resorts like Sandals, family resorts, or the normal islands (dominican, jamaica)

If anyone has been to Calabash Cove in St. Lucia, La Samanna or Le Domaine in St. Martin, reviews would be helpful.

I wouldn't recommend St. Lucia, when i went it was very depressed and my family never really felt safe. I did not stay in or near a resort area so I am sure that would be a different experience. As already been posted St. Barts is by far my favorite island in the Caribbean, St. Martin being a close second. I'm not sure about the best beaches because I am not a sit on a beach kind of person.

If you are willing to go a little farther off the beaten path Bequia is awesome, and amazingly beautiful. Not a typical tourist destination and it has a true native Caribbean influence, without the crime and general scketchyness the comes with places like St. Lucia, Jamaica, Nassau. I ended up spending two more days down there then we planed because it was such a great place. It has an epic beach front in the main harbor, lined with little local shops and beachfront Caribbean restaurants.

Do NOT go to the main island of St. Vincent for any reason its just not safe and is a huge drug transport island from SA to the US. I watched a guy get attacked with a machete in the harbor because he was upset we chose another guy to moore our boat (which is crazy because that is something you can easily do yourself but they have their mooring balls set up so you have no choice to use their services kind of like gas pumps in Oregon.). Also they have their Custom's office set up so it only open from 4:30 to 5pm. So if you enter the country you are virtually trapped there over night.

Wow, that place looks sick. Thanks

I went on a week long trip to Little Dix Bay on Virgin Gorda back in October of 2012 (got engaged there), pretty amazing place. As others have said, pricey, but definitely awesome. One of the prettiest places I've ever been (up there with Bora Bora).

Doesn't include food or tip. Amazing experience if you have the coin, usually a few celebs around as well as royals.

You can avoid the villas and stay at the Cotton House.

If this is too much, then look at St. Barths

bttt - still looking. mustique looks great and i've though about st. barths but would prefer something a little simpler to get to. have limited time and don't want to blow an entire day with planes trains and automobiles. same applies to places like peter island, little dix, etc.

any been to / heard of bucuti down in aruba?

Anyone been to Gracy Bay Club on T&C or La Samanna on St Maarten?

I've had dinner at Grace Bay Club. Very nice place. We stayed at Point Grace in our 2 trips to T&C.

I guess you enjoyed Point Grace since you have been twice. Was the food good? Would it be a good spot for 5 couples to go? Near any nightlife and/or casinos?
