Caribbean Resort Recommendations

T&C isn't big on nightlife. The one casino there sucks. Stayed at Windsong. Awesome beach and great snorkeling right next to it.

I guess you enjoyed Point Grace since you have been twice. Was the food good? Would it be a good spot for 5 couples to go? Near any nightlife and/or casinos?

Food was good. Point Grace is more of a 1 or 2 couple relaxation place. Not really near nightlife and casinos either; true for most of t&C. For 5 couples, I would recommend Grace Bay (more activity/options) or just renting a pimped out house for a similar price.

Yeah, my wife and I really like the house idea, but a few of the couples are stuck on having resort access. We'll probably end up at Viceroy in Anguilla or La Samanna on St Martin - 3 couples in a Villa and the other 2 in hotel rooms. We're gonna enjoy wherever we go and will definitely be a traveler, not a tourist, Milhouse.

Resurrecting again. I've read through this and a couple other Caribbean recommendation threads but would love up-to-date suggests as well.

Criteria:
-At least 6 late 30s/early 40s friends (3 couples planning - then may invite other friends to join once we've determined dates and location)
-Not crazy rowdy, but not super coupley-romantic-honeymoon either
-Not too hard to get to from DC (only probably 4 nights so don't want to waste time traveling)
-Likely over Columbus Day weekend 2018 (early October) - realizing that's hurricane season, so Aruba or Curacao may be best bets
-Preferably all-inclusive (we all love traveling and sight-seeing, but this trip is primarily going to be relaxation and getting away from kids)

Thoughts?

Aruba is your best bet if you want to avoid hurricanes. Curacao would also work, but the only true all-inclusive I know of there is Sunscape (people seem to love it or hate it). Other Curacao resorts that have offered an all-inclusive in the past include the Renaissance, Marriott and Hilton...pretty sure the Ren still does. If you look at any of these three, PM me.

On Aruba, I'd look at Riu Palace Antillas (adults only). I've never done an all-inclusive on Aruba, but a friend stayed at the Riu Antillas and recommends it. There are several other all-inclusives on Aruba, but I don't know anyone who has stayed at them.

You don't want to do all inclusive in Aruba. Restaurants are great and safe/easy to get around. It's not like one of those islands where you're confined to the resort or else you're in the shit.

Yeah, that's what I've heard. Although I'm torn because I like the ease and brainlessness or all-inclusive. But would want to try other good options. Not sure if we'll end up on Aruba, but seasonally it makes more sense.

Casa Vista Verde in Roatan is fantastic home rental with first class service. The beach directly in front of the house is not the best, but they will arrange a private charter to pick you up at the dock and take you to some beautiful places. Great rental for a larger group - 8 or 10. If you go, take the direct flight from Houston on United to avoid the Honduras mainland.

Do not know why you would use all inclusive on Aruba. Local restaurants are very good and full spectrum in offerings. Have been 17 times, it has become a mid winter treat for us.

My turn to resurrect this thread. Wide open on options, but currently looking at St. Lucia, T&C, Aruba, Grand Cayman, Antigua, and Grenada. Looking at early/mid-May for six nights.

You rubes still talking about resorts? If you are going to the Caribbean rent a boat. If you don't know anything about about boating stay at home/ rent a house.

St. Lucia is sketchy AF if your not in a resort BTW same with St. Vincent it's where all the buds are grown down there though.

If you are looking to go somewhere badass that most people don't go to/ know about go to Bequia. It is still a part of St. Vincent technically but your chances of being murdered there are relatively low. Fly into Grenada and or St. Lucia and grab a boat over.

Did Galley Bay for our honeymoon back in 2017 and thought it was great. Food was really good for an all inclusive. Boutique resort so isn't slammed with people and very relaxing. Some of the other higher end resorts on Antigua look amazing, but they were out of the price range for us.

Whatever you do wear a lifejacket for any of the water sports. I watched my future father in law all but drown this summer in Grande Turk and it still has me rattled. All he was doing was paddle boarding with rented equipment about 20 yards off shore, fell off, then the currents did the rest. His board went out of reach and he tried to chase it down against the current. Eventually panicked then went under. When I got to him (along with another bystander that saw it happening) he was taking in water and in shock. Got him onto a nearby reef and he spit up water for a good bit but couldn't swim in so we had to bring a boat out. Luckily the only lasting damage was a gash to my leg hitting coral getting out to him but it was a full on active drowning situation.

Go to Belize. Stay in Placencia at one of the resorts there. You should visit the town often.

Great experience, great people. English is the first language, which helps with exploring, setting up tours/fishing trips/snorkeling/etc. Turtle Inn and Chabil Mar Villas are both excellent, although very different. You can get to Belize City from a variety of places. Puddle jumper from there.

Live a little. Most Caribbean resorts offer pretty much the same experience.
