When Did National Parks Become Important?

So we are going to give them to the Native Americans right? Or the Norse people? They were here first.

"The history of North America encompasses the past developments of people populating the continent of North America. The continent became a human habitat later than continents such as Africa, Asia, and Europe, when people migrated across the Bering Sea 40,000 to 17,000 years ago."

"The Norse colonization of the Americas began as early as the 10th century AD, when Vikings explored and settled areas of the North Atlantic, including the northeastern fringes of North America."

Who was here first?

https://wilderness.org/blog/bishop-aims-gut-americas-top-parks-conservation-program-lwcf

"Bishop’s legislation aims to severely restructure the program, gutting its power protect lands for conservation and diverting its funds from parks to subsidize oil companies and oil leasing."

One significant problem with the current gridlock in Congress is not only the inability to pass new legislation, but also to renew expiring legislation such as the Antiquities Act and the Land and Water Conservation Fund.
