Investment Thread - For all your money needs

Sell! Sell! :willynilly:

Here's your loss porn - I'm down 5% today after losing 2.5% yesterday. Hoping things reverse soon with reopening/COVID relief news. Will likely add shares of whichever of my stocks has dropped the most.

Seriously, fuck Janet Yellen for her bullshit about Bitcoin.

The sell-off in high growth names is likely due to rapidly rising rates... Whether it will be short-term or a theme that persists is unknown.

But when you aren't making any money, changes in the discount rate really fuck with your DCF.

Maybe the Fed will save it by keeping rates low. Maybe they can't (or won't). We'll see.

so, can you still withdraw from a 401(K) without penalty in 2021? I see conflicting answers on the internet. Internally debating whether I should pay off a few credit cards. Anybody know this kind of thing?

First time in my life I ever timed selling something well, it's weird not losing all the time.

I thought I read that ended on 12/31. It was part of the original CARES act and you still owed income tax on it.

Decent rebound to end the day, went from -5% to -2%. Missed a few stocks which dropped 20-25% early in the day that I would have liked to have bought into. We'll see if things turn green tomorrow or continue to slide. A decent stake in MRO/GUSH has been saving my overall folio the past two days.

Picked up TSLA at $680, yesterday. After having spent 99% of my life living paycheck to paycheck, this whole "let's just get 8% returns in 24 hours" life is significantly better.

Powell basically told everybody, "It's OK... The water's fine!" yesterday afternoon and stocks have recovered nicely. Still more of a value over growth slant today.

The question continues to be whether or not the Fed can keep this party going. The real problem they will have is when the economy starts humming later in the year and there are calls for them to taper (which will kill stocks the moment Powell says anything less dovish).

The wife and I already max out a couple Roths a piece, and we're at a point where we can go ahead and get rid of this whole mortgage thing in the next 6 months or so. So tell me, rich Wake people, what should I do with the monthly money that we used to spend on our mortgage.

Take out another mortgage and invest it all in bitcoin.

Dump a few hundred bucks a paycheck in the SPY index for the next 20-25 years.
