Closer early on than it should be but then again I don't now what precincts have come in.

Foxx is so fucking awful though.

Foxx, or really any conservative, is absolutely untouchable in the 5th.

And we also re-elected this lovely gal to the Forsyth board of education with the most votes:

"If our student assignment plan, which has been in place since 1995, is so "harmful to education", why did they give Buddy, Donny, and me the first three "Friends of Education" awards. And if it's so harmful, why didn't they endorse Mark Baker over Don Martin, a self-proclaimed moderate, who just happened to endorse that "harmful" assignment plan for 20 years. Think about it, folks. Their agenda is to elect liberals.
With all the challenges facing education today, continuing budget cuts, erosion of the family, the rapidly riding number if kids not reading on grade level, and the worst of all, the Obamacare of education...common core....these people chose to base their endorsement on vouchers and our assignment plan?" -Jeannie Metcalf

"Many people may remember when the now defunct GLSEN Winston-Salem lobbied the Board of Education to include sexual orientation and gender-identity in the anti-discrimination and anti-harassment policies of the School System. Collins and Metcalf were the most outspoken opponents to the request. The Winston-Salem Journal even got hold of an email from Metcalf in which she compared homosexuals to murderers and rapists."

I abhor that cunt. Metcalf is an abysmal person.

She's right that Common Core sucks.

Well there was pretty much zero media coverage locally on the school board race so I'm not surprised idiots got elected. How hard is it for the Winston-Salem Journal to run in-depth pieces on all the major candidates. Trying to find info on who to vote for in these races is near impossible.

Seems odd that the state president of the PTA couldn't even win a primary to get on the general ballot for Winston-Salem school board.

How the hell did Renee Elmer avoid that list?

Thanks to Foxx having my email, I have also been getting tons of GOP emails. They just sent me the survey below. Trying to figure out which selections would send them in the least harmful directions.

Pick the three Principles for American Renewal that are most important to you:
CONSTITUTION: Our Constitution should be preserved, valued and honored.
ECONOMY: We need to start growing America’s economy instead of Washington’s economy so that working Americans see better wages and more opportunity.
BUDGET/DEBT: We need to pass a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution, make government more efficient, and leave the next generation with opportunity, not debt.
HEALTHCARE: We need to start over with real healthcare reform that puts patients and their doctors in charge, not unelected bureaucrats in Washington.
VETERANS: Our veterans have earned our respect and gratitude, and no veteran should have to wait in line for months or years just to see a doctor.
SECURITY: Keeping America safe and strong requires a strong military, growing the economy, energy independence, and secure borders.
EDUCATION: Every child should have an equal opportunity to get a great education; no parent should be forced to send their child to a failing school.
POVERTY: The best anti-poverty program is a strong family and a good job, so our focus should be on getting people out of poverty by lifting up all people and helping them find work.
VALUES: Our country should value the traditions of family, life, religious liberty, and hard work.
ENERGY: We should make America energy independent by encouraging investment in domestic energy, lowering prices, and creating jobs at home.
IMMIGRATION: We need an immigration system that secures our borders, upholds the law, and boosts our economy.

Most of the descriptive comments attached to each thing are comically uncontroversial.

^^^Some of that is Fracking, some is Keystone XL pipeline and some is developing nuclear waste storage, which Harry Reid stopped, so Nuclear power can continue.

CONSTITUTION: Our Constitution should be preserved, valued and honored.

2nd on the Amendments list, #1 in our hearts.

ECONOMY: We need to start growing America’s economy instead of Washington’s economy so that working Americans see better wages and more opportunity.

Entitlements bad tax cuts good.

BUDGET/DEBT: We need to pass a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution, make government more efficient, and leave the next generation with opportunity, not debt.

Slash anything that helps anyone who makes less than 6 figures. Keep everything else.

HEALTHCARE: We need to start over with real healthcare reform that puts patients and their doctors in charge, not unelected bureaucrats in Washington.

Unless that real healthcare reform involves a single payer system, in which case, wait I'm confused which Pubs do I support on this one again?

VETERANS: Our veterans have earned our respect and gratitude, and no veteran should have to wait in line for months or years just to see a doctor.

Duh. Ideally (not for Foxx) this would apply to all humans, but we lionize the military and police for at least some good reason, we may as well honor our side of the bargain with them.

SECURITY: Keeping America safe and strong requires a strong military, growing the economy, energy independence, and secure borders.

Strong military meaning indiscriminate spending, not strong military.

EDUCATION: Every child should have an equal opportunity to get a great education; no parent should be forced to send their child to a failing school.

Vouchers for all! Fuck teachers!

POVERTY: The best anti-poverty program is a strong family and a good job, so our focus should be on getting people out of poverty by lifting up all people and helping them find work.

Two parent household law! Similar to Chinese one child household law, but with more FREEDOM.

VALUES: Our country should value the traditions of family, life, religious liberty, and hard work.

Protestantism!

ENERGY: We should make America energy independent by encouraging investment in domestic energy, lowering prices, and creating jobs at home.

This one makes a ton of sense until you realize they're exclusively talking about fracking.

IMMIGRATION: We need an immigration system that secures our borders, upholds the law, and boosts our economy.

If it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown, flush it down.

Silly.

From her weekly email:

What’s Coming Up

Next week the House will consider legislation to ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, which is when research has shown unborn babies are capable of feeling pain. We will also consider legislation to reduce red-tape when approving natural gas pipelines.

This is solid work.
