A new basketball coach calls for a new recruiting thread. Below is a running list of 2015 and 2016 prospects.

Like past recruiting threads, there is not any inside information on this thread unless posted by an insider.

The Class of 2014 is set at Mitchell Wilbekin (3-star PG), Rondale Watson (UR SG), Konstantinos Mitoglou (UR PF) and Cornelius Hudson (UR SG). Post-grad PF/C Darius Leonard will be eligible immediately to play his senior season after transferring from Campbell.

(Thanks, DCDeacon)

Here is a mappable database of our offers for 2015 and 2016. (Thanks, sacrasdeac)

Following significant roster turnover, Manning and his staff are courting prospects at all positions in the classes of 2015 and 2016.

4-star PG Bryant Crawford (6'2, 185) became the first member of Wake's class of 2015. Crawford is ranked #78 overall on Rivals, #83 overall/#9 PG on Scout and #16 PG on ESPN and chose Wake over Georgetown and SMU, among others.

4-star C Doral Moore (7'0, 245) became the second! Moore is ranked #48 overall on Rivals, #76 overall/#18 C on Scout, #60 overall/#11 C on ESPN and chose Wake over Kentucky, Florida, Illinois, and Ohio State.

3-star PF John Collins (6'8, 220) rounds out Wake's best recruiting class since 2010. Collins is not as highly regarded as Crawford or Moore, but it's hard not to project him as a potential steal given how skilled he is at 16, a year younger than most in his class. Collins chose Wake over Miami, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Tennessee, and Georgia Tech.

JW, what site are you using for the stars?

Depends. For Shelton and Rondale, it's just a composite of Scout, Rivals, and ESPN - in that order, since ESPN basketball recruiting has taken a major budget hit lately. For the 2015-2016 guys, it was based on a combo of all of those + 247 if I couldn't find anything. It probably needs updating. I just wanted to get the taste of you know who off of the recruiting thread.

Oh I'm thrilled you started a new thread. I do think we should be targeting Iran Bennett and Jalen Harris. Both very good 2016 players from NC.

Manning has to go & find a "graduate" player to fill that last spot for one season. I don't think it is worth wasting on a 4 year player (unless we have transfers). Speaking of transfers, without any he is pretty much handcuffed until the 2016 class comes into play.

Sorry Rondale, but you need to find another school to matriculate at.

Does Randolph have a particularly strong relationship with the NC 2015/2016 recruits? Just trying to figure out why there would be a priority for keeping him on as the 3rd assistant vs. his previous role (which doesn't involve recruiting).

Danny Manning's Recruiting:

Kansas:
-Lead Recruiter: Perry Ellis (RSCI #32)
-Secondary Recruiter: Xavier Henry (RSCI #6)
-Nationally renowned as a big man coach

Tulsa:

-Class of 2012 (the class was more or less solidified by the time Manning was hired, but he brought in two guys under-the-wire:
Rashad Ray: PG - UR, but First Team All-State in LA (offers included UALR and Tulane)
Kauri Black: PF - Graduate Transfer from Northeastern

-Class of 2013:
Emmanuel Ezechinoso: C - 2/3-star
Lew Evans: C - JuCo transfer (UR in JuCo)
Steve Repichowski: SG - UR
Marquel Curtis: SG - JuCo transfer (UR in JuCo)
TK Edogi: PF - UR

-Class of 2014:
Mitchell Wilbekin: PG - 3-star
Micah Littlejohn: SG/SF - 2/3-star

How these guys turned out on campus:
Kauri Black - 7.1 ppg and 4.4 rpg (Graduated)
Rashad Ray - 6.8 ppg and 2.5 apg/1.2TO (Sophomore)
Lew Evans - 5.3 ppg and 4.1 rpg (Sophomore)
Steve Repichowski - 3.3 ppg and 36% 3FG (Freshman)
Marquel Curtis - 2.9 ppg and 2.2 rpg (Junior)
Emmanuel Ezechinoso - Redshirt FR
TK Edogi - Redshirt FR

As far as Manning's recruiting pedigree at KU (or lack thereof), do know if the list is short because his role was such that he was less involved with recruiting and more with player development or was he really active on the recruiting trail and just couldn't get commits? Neither is ideal, obviously, but I think it does make a difference.

I honestly don't and I'm not sure if anybody does.

The word from media reports is that:
-Perry Ellis was his guy (McDonalds All American)
-He was present during Xavier Henry's recruitment (McDonalds All American)
-2003-2007 KU Team Manager and Director of Student-Athlete Development
-2007-2012 KU Assistant Coach
-Responsible for developing Wayne Simien, Julian Wright, Darrell Arthur, Darnell Jackson, Sasha Kaun, Cole Aldrich, the Morris twins, and Jeff Withey.

The latter is his strongest quality, IMO. Withey and Jackson, in particular, were just extremely well developed.

I'm wondering why D'Andre Wright - a guy who has the physical tools to be a legitimate NBA prospect - took a step back as a sophomore at Tulsa, though.

His recruiting at Tulsa has been relatively strong. He hasn't necessarily locked up the type of commitments that will take the team to the next level (or it doesn't seem so as of now), but he has been in play for a couple of higher profile guys in the mid and southwest.
