People need to get the fuck over Cleveland State. It happened. It was embarrassing. That team had issues obviously with chemistry and coaching. Reading rj's post you would think we had a highly touted team that floated outside the top 25 all season which is bullshit. Cry over our late season failings but that team was very strong the majority of the season.
 
We need to focus on our monte future with DM and forget about all our embarrassing failures. It should all be treated the same was as [Redacted].

rj's post was accurate, imo. yours definitely was not.

We were #1 in the country and then lost at least one game per week for the rest of the season.

We had four NBA players. We had two great PGs. We had a lottery pick combo forward and #19 pick combo forward. Who cares where they were in HS? By the time that season got going we had three Top 20 picks and a guy who has played several in the NBA and was #2 all time at Wake in assists.

We had multiple 6'10+ guys who were serviceable.

There was absolutely no excuse not to be a top 5 team. It was about coaching.

We didn't lose in a tight game. We were absolutely embarrassed from the tip of that game. We had enough talent to get to the Final 4, without question. We played absolutely pathetic down the stretch of that season. IIRC, weren't we beaten up badly by Maryland in the ACC tourney as well?
 
Well just the bitching part. I'm more on the WRS side of enjoying the hell out of that season. The Dino debate is tiring and was a half decade ago.

No doubt people need to move on but as a fan that one stings hard because we blew one of our best chances in nearly a decade. The whole point was brought up buy the guy saying everyone thought Dino was a GOAT coach.

Enjoying the season is one thing. Pretending like we were one of the five best teams in the country while being kinda antagonistic about it seems a bit much.
 
The reality is we had three Top 20 NBA drafted players on that team. Each of whom played multiple and different positions. Add a brilliantly quick PG who has been in the NBA and was an excellent defender. We had multiple solid big guys. We had another excellent wing defender.

There were not five other teams with that depth of talent.

With an average coach, it should have been a lock Sweet 16 team. With a decent match-up, an average coach would get this team to the Elite 8 or more .

A good coach gets us to the Final Four.
 
Based on the results of all the coaching searches this spring, it seems to me that Smart, White, Miller, and Marshall were never really at play in the market. Makes me feel much better about Manning as the hire.

And Howland still can't sniff a job.

More talented teams haven't made it as far as the Sweet 16.

Upsets happen.
 
We lost several games that we had no business losing.

A good coach would never take out a season long starter and replace him with a freshman (who has never started a game) in the first game of the NCAAT if there is no injury. That was a total loser's move.

Sorry, there is no excuse for that team falling apart the way it did. It was horrible coaching.

Good point. Doesn't bode well for getting proven talent if Manning doesn't work out though.
 
When you keep harping on the past, eventually enough years go by, and you are thereff bitching about Greer and GDO or bkf with Tacy.
