Triad restaurant comings, goings and recs

Finally made it to Big Burger Spot yesterday and came away impressed. Got the bison burger special with bacon cheddar fries. If I lived closer I'd hit it up more often. Their setup is quite simple and the concept could easily be replicated elsewhere.

Oh snap. The location on Battleground? I was there yesterday, too!

I go to the one on Nicholas Rd almost every Friday. They are opening one on Main St in Kernersville. Still a good haul from Advance but closer nonetheless.

Looking for a good dinner option near Friendly Center tonight. Casual but good food and not a chain. Need to get in and out in one hour at 6 pm. Thoughts?

Go to the Corner of Walker and Elam. Sticks and Stones (Pizza), Lindley Park Filling Station, Fishbones, Emma Keys. All good, and all right next to each other so you can pick the place with the shortest wait.

Fishbones is scrummy.

Mike Drum is opening 3 Wing Stop franchises in the Triad:

A fast-growing – perhaps the hottest – national restaurant chain is opening the first of three new Triad locations next weekend.

Wingstop (NASDAQ: WING) has scheduled a grand opening for its new store at The Shoppes at Wendover Village, 4205 W. Wendover Ave. in Greensboro, on March 16. From noon until 4 p.m., the restaurant will give each guest five free wings – no purchase required.

As Triad Business Journal reported late last year, a Wingstop, also owned by Drum, is planned at North Summit Square Shopping Center in Winston-Salem. Nicks said the Winston-Salem location as well as one on the northwest corner of the intersection of Main Street and Westchester Avenue in High Point should open in April.

Nicks said Atticus plans to open other locations in the Triad, home base for East Coast Wings, which has more than 30 locations throughout North Carolina.

"We should have a few more (in the Triad) open in the next year," Nicks told TBJ.

Wingstop made news Feb. 27 when Chief Experience Officer Stacy Peterson Androes resigned. In its earning announcement the same day, the Dallas-based chain announced it had opened 51 new restaurants and had same-store sales growth of 6 percent last quarter. Wingstop’s revenue rose 15.1 percent to $40.5 million for the fiscal quarter.

Wingstop's menu includes bone-in and boneless chicken wings, as well as chicken tenders, all sauced and tossed in 11 flavors. Sides include hand-cut seasoned fries.

How does Wing Stop differ from other chain wings restaurants like Buffalo Wild Wings?
