The Belmont is Saturday

At 3/8 pole when Chrome pulled 4 wide and looked like he had a bead on Tonalist, if I could have I would have doubled my $20 Chrome/Tonalist exacta box.

Yeah, I thought he was running a great race and in perfect position. Just didn't have enough

tor pulled the trigger like he had in the previous four races, but Chrome didn't respond this time.

Rj, I need you to pour yourself a bigass cup of grape juice and answer my questions about this generation of horses being such pussies.

They are overbred. There's also more of a phenomenon of new shooters coming into the fray late.

Another big factor is the size of the fields. Secretariat and Seattle Slew won their Triple Crowns in Belmonts with a total of five horses each. Affirmed had a field of eight. If there was a field of 5-8 in the race yesterday, I doubt Chrome loses. He would have gotten a much easier trip.

Although it wasn't the case with Chrome, I think many of the horses haven't raced enough as two year olds to be ready for the strain of the Triple Crown.

The owner may have a small point the way things have changed. The bigger fields in the Belmont are a huge detriment. It is something new versus the last three winners.

Yes, Secretariat scared people away, but also yes, the money wasn't as big back then for after the races.

Chrome's owner went too far. Maybe the new rules could be something like:

You have to have run in one of the other Triple Crown races.

Or you have to have qualified for the KY Derby but missed it.

Or you have to have won one of a specific group of prep races. Tonalist would have gotten in for having won the Peter Pan. The Breeders Cup does this. There are "win and you're in" races throughout the summer.

I didn't hear the guy whining about the field being too big. He's a dumbass who we will never hear from again. Other owners are trying to win a purse at their horses best distance.

By definition, if his rules were implemented, the field would have been much smaller.

Changing anything for the Triple Crown would be disrespectful to the sport and not to mention the previous Triple Crown winners. It is the whole asterisk beside homerun leaders using steroids.

Chrome's owner showed his ass making those comments. He should said Chrome didn't fire but he accomplished a lot . Thanks to all the fans and congrats to the connections of Tonalist and then shut the hell up.

The NY Post has dubbed him "the Triple Clown". This is why there have been only 11 triple crown winners. (3 each in the 30's,40's and 70's).

I've kind of been on the fence about whether they should change things up for the triple crown races or not. Making it easier will only lessen the achievement of winning the triple crown, but I can see a case to make the time between the races a little bit longer. Some guy on ESPN was saying with regards to horses only running one of the races, that if it were only the horses competing that ran all 3 it would be like the Heat only having the beat the Bobcats again to win the NBA title instead of the Spurs. Of course that isn't exactly true since the Spurs have had to play the same number of opponents as the Heat to get to the finals, where as horses that just run the Belmont aren't having to compete in prior races like Chrome did. I'm not in favor though, of excluding it to horses that have run either both or one of the prior triple crown races though.

Which was why Chrome gaining 45 pounds since the Derby made him look so tough.

He bloated up on a lot of oats. Was too heavy & couldn't run. Looked like his big mouth owner and couldn't tote the freight in the long race. That is why thiese races are hard to win over the course of 5 weeks. Coburn needs to figure that out. He hasn't been an owner long enough to ever have had bad results. Go back & apologize and be happy he won 2 of the races instead of being an idiot and realizing that these horses are playing by the rules and can enter as long race specialists.

Honestly, if these horses stayed in horse school for 4 years there would be better races.
