SCOTUS decisions

You can’t compare what Republicans did to a filibuster.

If you want to compare the Supreme Court to appellate courts, sure.

The opinion makes sense if gerrymandering did not already exist. The opinion is that it’s not the courts job to legislate political maps, if you want to change maps or get rid of gerrymandering then make laws that eliminate it. However those laws need to come from the non representative state law makers that are in their position because of gerrymandering, it’s so stupid. The only way to end gerrymandering is for Democrats to get a majority in all three branches, kill the filibuster and enact a federal law that can no longer apparently be challenged in court.

So nothing will get done for another 50 years. Congrats Junebug.

The gerrymandering case involved both Dems and Pubs.

Both parties gerrymandered their respective states.

If your concern is the Pubs do it more then just get better at doing it too. SCOTUS gave a green light.

The concern is that it is cheating, and should not be permitted by either party. Republicans just cheat a lot more than dems do, and their cheating is now entrenched. Dems will have to outcheat them now, which is tough because Republicans are generally soulless and cheating comes easy for them.

what a terrible fucking post

No surprise whatsoever on the gerrymander ruling. Cases like this are exactly why Kavanaugh and Gorsuch were placed on the Court, and why Garland never even got a hearing. Got to protect the GOP at all costs. Reading over Roberts' majority ruling, it's hilarious when he actually says that "Our conclusion does not condone excessive partisan gerrymandering." Well, yeah, it really does. If what's happening in states like NC isn't "excessive partisan gerrymandering", then what is?

Political affiliation isn’t a protected class. If you’re going to bring a gerrymandering lawsuit do it on grounds that it disenfranchises the minority vote.

I’m sure there are any number of smoking gun emails that would be discoverable.

Don't act like that matters.

At least the court did the right thing on the citizenship question.

They legalized politicians picking their voters.
