We haven't left Seabook to venture past Freshfields yet. In laws fed us last night. Lazy/vacation mode.
Edit: if I go solo, what's a good place to get food at the bar around 11-midnight?

Is there an opener tonight? Doesn't appear to be. Trying to talk the wife into going.

Doesn't look to be an opener. Doors open at 8:00 and show starts at 9:00. In terms of your other question about dinner, I don't know what to tell you for that late as most places will be closed other than maybe gilroys pizza and pita pit. I'm planning on meeting some friends downtown for dinner at Mercury around 6:30 before going to the show.

Kickin' Chicken is about three blocks from the Farm. South side of Marion Square. Kitchen is open late.

I've listened to Yeezus about 10 times so far. Not ready to review it yet, not completely. Production wise it's a 10, hands fucking down. Blood on the Leaves, Black Skinhead, New Slaves, Hold My Liquor. I keep listening to those over and over. Lyrically it might fall into some traps occasionally that I don't like, but that hasn't dissuaded me from absolutely loving it so far. On a pure gut/visceral level, this album hits harder than any mainstream album I've heard in a long time.

This is weird. Why are there a bunch of high school hipster wanna bees at the local natives show?

buzz band bro. explains why it's so hard to get a fucking ticket up here.

Fucking teenage hipsters. Show is sold out. Will have to wait to see them in August. On the bright side, I am at The Ordinary.

It's the Local Natives and the National, dude. That's a pretty sweet ticket. If it didn't sell out, I would think something was wrong with your city.

Just got back from Local Natives and they were unreal. Didn't realize how talented they were. Literally every person in the band can sing and play every instrument. Great show.

Good look, cheese!

So last week I saw We Were Promised Jetpacks at this place, Morgan's Pier, and I didn't realize then that they have a free show every Wednesday there.

Woods & Parquet Courts on 7/24
Ted Leo & Waxahatchee on 7/31
Prefuse 73 on 8/7
Pissed Jeans on 8/28

Pretty sweet free lineup. The food there is really good, too.

Parquet Courts quietly released the best indie rock record of 2012 and have slowly been gaining some much deserved recognition.

flights to chicago from charlotte were freaking absurd but I just locked in the lollapalooza weekend.. pretty stoked.

I love it, freaka.

It took one weekend of partying with it in the background and just constantly flipping the second record, and I'm hooked.

Love Nile Rodgers, love the arrangements, love the sound, the features, the lyrical themes, it's just a really fun album. I wish they weren't such eurodouches but I am definitely crazy about it on the whole.

Can't wait to see them live. I think their record got buried with the late 2012 release a bit, but they've built a reputation on this year's touring that has totally solified their status.
