Official thread about the movie you just saw

It really was excellent. They did a bad job of promoting it. Think it lost a lot of money.

Yeah, it was the second entry in the futuristic-sci-fi-war-with-fighting-in-robotic-exoskeletons genre to come out in less than a year after Elysium (third if you count Pacific Rim), and second futuristic-sci-fi-war-with-Tom-Cruise flick in the same period (Oblivion). Too bad, it's easily the most memorable out of those.

Watched The Babadook last night. Not terribly impressed, though it was more interesting than a typical jump-scare scary movie. I don't think it deserves a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes or whatever it has, but that's just me.

I don't think it ended up losing money. Production budget of $180M, marketing, etc. around $120M, and made $370M globally, over $100M domestically. Really good movie.

I thought Trainwreck was alright - certainly funny, but it was just a basic romantic comedy where the only new element is the female lead is a terrible person. Seems like Amy Schumer's response to movies where the douchey male character ends up with the out of his league woman, and the trope wasn't any less ridiculous in this movie.

Lebron James was the best part of the movie by far.

Is spectre any good? Trying to decide if I want to go tomorrow.

It's a middle of the road Bond film, which makes it better than most movies out there. If you are a fan of the entire Bond series, see it because it caters to fans of the old movies. If not, wait for the DVD. It is not at the level of Casino or Skyfall, but definitely better than the shitburger known as Quantum of Solace.

John Wick is one of the best action movies I've ever seen. Great movie. These are the kind of movies Keanu needs to keep making because he is a complete badass.

Saw Spectre today (didn't see Caps review until now). Not too disappointed I saw it in theaters, thought some of the set pieces worked better on the big screen rather than the home tv. Middle of the road is right. It wasn't great but I'm a bond fan and haven't missed them in theaters so I kindda had to go, the negative reviews were pushing me away. Thought overall it was an average movie. Really close to the plot of Mission Impossible 5. Thought that it was really well shot and the cinematography was really well done. Lots of low points but still alright. I'd put it on the low-middle end of bond films.

By far my favorite part was Colin Quinn explaining to his daughters why he and their mom were getting a divorce.

Fair enough, that intro was also great. But Lebron's line, "Do you hear his name when you listen to the wind" was great.

Saw SPECTRE last week and I didn't like it. All noise and no plot, and Craig was just going through the motions. I think it's the worst of the four Daniel Craig 007 movies...worse than Quantum. (Yup, really). Also this is one of the most blatant cases of the trailers giving away most of the movie and spoiling the best scenes.

Craig did a nice job reviving 007 but it's time for a new guy.

Purge 2 was terribad, hell, The Purge was bad and it had that dude from Gattaca

Saw both Room and Spotlight recently. Both incredible films. Would put Beasts of No Nation a step below those two but still a great movie. Looks like this is gonna be a great year for movies with Tarantino, Inarritu and others still having films that'll come out later this year.

Btw Room is directed by the same guy who directed Frank. Saw Frank was being discussed in the Netflix thread.

A New Hope is so good. And the best part? You're primed to watch ESB which is even better.
