I said get MUCH more out of this team. At the end of the year K would get 2-3 more wins than Manning. I have no doubt that K would have kept some of these games more competitive. But, fielding a team that has no talent leaves a coach with very few options. K could coach Campbell and they'd still suck. At the end of the day a coach needs talent to win. No amount of hand waving and strategy will change that fact. Remember when K had no talent and took the year off?
And that isn't necessarily true because K played the same pressure man d even when his teams were terrible. This early K Duke team gave up 100 points 7 times in a season. I am sure he could have kept it closer playing a different style, but to what purpose?
