Ongoing US GOP Debacle Thread: Seditious Republicans march toward authoritarianism

George Will's no longer a 'Pub. Kristol's probably in the same boat. Neo-cons have been wiped out. Other than Cruz, most of the hardcore social conservatives are done. Trump won't be in politics after November. McConnell likely retires if he's no longer Senate Majority Leader.

Ryan will battle the Tea Party for control. Multiple consecutive presidential losses will have thinned establishment ranks, so don't see the remaining GOP getting more moderate. Unbelievable they may not hit bottom until 2020.

This is a very good thing.

If the GOP would get back to their roots of fiscal conservatism and quit catering to the religious and social right then it would be a much, much better party.

Good example of how entitlement programs can act to protect people from free market capitalism at work.

Kansas may be a disaster and North Carolina's coming on strong, but MS is still the undisputed champion. Still honor the CSA in the state flag, want protections for wannabe Kim Davises, get a part of HB2, and the veneer of religious freedom.

Social conservatives are thoroughly marginalized with another Dem POTUS: Roe stays, transgenders in the military, and religious freedom Trump style boomeranging on him by Western swing state Mormons.

I have no idea why any gay person would be a Republican. To me it's the same as a black person joining the KKK.

W wouldn't even take a $1,000,000 check from the Log Cabin Republicans, because they are gay. Republicans were overwhelmingly against marriage equality. They proposed and/or passed many "religious freedom acts" to persecute gay couples. In many Republican led states, you can be fired just for being gay. There are many states that have laws that make discriminating against gays legal.

How much must one hate themselves to support people who hate you and make laws against you?

You're in CA. Why don't you just go ask Peter Thiel?

Trump allegedly vetting retired General Michael Flynn. Flynn's pro-choice and neutral on LGBT issues. Harsh Dem critic of Obama and Hillary. Trump had to throw wary social conservatives a bone with a half ass judicial list, but can't imagine they'd be too stoked with the pick. Weird Balkanized party that can't move forward when vocal segments of the party have veto power on issues which move the party closer to the national concensus on social issues.

He's also (probably) a paid agent of the Kremlin? Might lead with that one, IMO.

Lolz! Doing the people's business!

Pence may or may not be Trump's VP, but Cruz delegates are writing the party platform. Trump fucks the GOP with women and Latinos, but an added bonus is a Cruz written party platform straght out of the '50s.
