Ongoing US GOP Debacle Thread: Seditious Republicans march toward authoritarianism

It's all about Republicans wanting people to respect their desire to be disrespectful.

It's all about Republicans wanting people to respect their desire to be disrespectful.

It's like listening to the constant Republican claim that its Democrats and liberals who are being divisive and dividing the nation whenever they dare to criticize Dear Leader when he insults and attacks them on twitter and elsewhere. How dare the LibDems not happily accept Trump's glorious insults and threats! Cognitive dissonance indeed.

Brian Kolb, the GOP leader in the New York State Assembly, was arrested for drunk driving just one week after writing an article for a NY newspaper in which he warned people against - drunk driving. In his article he wrote that "tragedy can be only one bad decision away...there is no excuse for impaired driving." He added "By thinking ahead and coming up with a plan before imbibing, many regrettable situations can be avoided." Kolb crashed his state-issued car on New Year's Eve, and was found to be drunk by state troopers on the scene. Some fellow assemblymen, including at least one Republican, have called for him to resign. He's made a public apology, but given no word as to any other actions he'll take. You can't make this stuff up.

You can make it up. They made up an entire world where they say do as I say not as I do. The worst thing to happen in this country in the last 20-30 years or so is they religious right trying themselves to the republican party and then telling their well intentioned followers that Democrats are evil and less American. We are seeing the results play out in real time.

My friend got a DUI about twenty years ago. His hearing was delayed for a day. The magistrate had gotten drunk and wrapped his car around a telephone pole (he wasn't hurt).

The more interesting thing about that poll is that there's no one candidate that over half of Republicans would vote for to succeed Trump. It speaks less of a Trump dynasty and more that they only see Trump as a leader. Pence at 40%? Biden probably would have gotten twice that in 2012. Hillary would have gotten well above that as well.

A good deal of the support for Ivanka and Don, Jr. probably comes from Trumpites who know that nominating one of them will piss off LibDems and get under their skin. It's all about trolling (and owning) the libs.

[h=1]Deceased GOP Strategist's Daughter Makes Files Public That Republicans Wanted Sealed[/h]

More than a year after his death, a cache of computer files saved on the hard drives of Thomas Hofeller, a prominent Republican redistricting strategist, is becoming public.
Republican state lawmakers in North Carolina fought in court to keep copies of these maps, spreadsheets and other documents from entering the public record. But some files have already come to light in recent months through court filings and news reports.
They have been cited as evidence of gerrymandering that got political maps thrown out in North Carolina, and they have raised questions about Hofeller's role in the Trump administration's failed push for a census citizenship question.
Now more of the files are available online through a website called The Hofeller Files, where Hofeller's daughter, Stephanie Hofeller, published a link to her copy of the files on Sunday after first announcing her plans in a tweet last month.
