Ongoing US GOP Debacle Thread: Seditious Republicans march toward authoritarianism

I don't think it makes much sense to split up one county into multiple congressional districts.

Quick google

Meck - 991,000 in 2013
NC - 9.4M in 2014

So 10% is fair.

Those make more sense. And if true then Mecklenberg would get 1/15 of the reps (6.7%) which isn't too far off their % of pop.

No system is perfect, but I like the idea of a county not being broken up for the most part. Could get trickier in some other states like NY I imagine.

Ominous polling for Lyin' Ted and TX GOP:

If Castro beats Cruz in 2018, Cruz is done in elective politics. Couldn't run for POTUS in 2020. GOP would be greatly improved in 2020 without Cruz or Pence, but have little doubt their base can still rally around someone worse. Patrick's an idiot and P's been touted as return of the Bushes with new improved packaging.

Should use Castro in NV and AZ now that CO looks solid. Any extra time should be spent building support in TX for 2018. Would set him up to be part of the 2024 ticket. Game over for the GOP once TX goes purple, let alone blue.

Not sure how P enters the fray as the Latino GOP hope with Cruz and Little Marco flaming out.

Trump is bringing on Steve Bannon, the head of Breitbart, to shake up the campaign. Bannon was an early champion of Sarah Palin and made a fawning film about her. Looks like the campaign is returning to hard populist and giving up on trying to unite the GOP. Been strange that Palin was an early supporter of Trump, was a primary surrogate, and then completely disappeared.

Would not be surprised for Trump to go negative on Ryan and McConnell. Where does that leave Pence? He was brought on to reassure the establishment and social conservatives. Can't change DC with the same GOP leadership in place.

Pence is sitting on the sidelines and isn't doing what he was brought in to do.

Sailor's vote is now locked up

Pence was in NM yesterday. Tiny state that's off the table and not big for fund raising. AZ, CO, UT, and NV are bigger states with better chances for Trump. Only makes sense as a last minute hope to get Martinez on board in 2016 or Pence is starting to position himself for 2020. NM's not coming back anytime soon and Martinez isn't going to do shit for Trump.

At this point the GOP needs to just tell Trump to fuck off and get as far away from him as possible. Basically exactly what they should have done a year ago.

Just like Dems in midterms running scared and not standing up for their principles, the GOP ran scared from Trump and didn't stand up for their principles. Politicians need to grow some damn backbones.

I actually think the one thing politicians do well is listen to their constituents. That's really the terrifying thing about most of it.

Politicians routinely ignore 45% of their constituents.
