Ongoing US GOP Debacle Thread: Seditious Republicans march toward authoritarianism

It’s interesting that you equate “giving money” to allowing people to keep the money they earned.

Buddy, your party is long past that talking point. Maybe if they shrink government spending I’d get it. But the tax cut is just financed by running up record deficits on the government’s dime. A cash advance on a credit card. It’s an unearned giveaway, celebrated most loudly by those who barely benefit.

Tax cuts should be earned by making tough choices on spending cuts. But the modern GOP is too shitty and weak to sell those tough choices to their voters, most of whom benefit in a big way from that spending. Sure, they’ll identify some red meat stuff like programs for brown people that will rile up their idiot base but in reality don’t cost much. Any real cuts will hurt their base bigly.

So why bother? Just throw it on the government credit card. Our low info voters won’t care about the national debt because it doesn’t immediately and personally affect them. At least until the next Dem president when Fox News rediscovers it as the greatest danger facing the country.

And much of that deficit spending is given to private sector military and health care.

Republicans are clearly the party of fiscal irresponsibility.

Sure, Dems are far from perfect, but it’s not a close call when it comes to governing responsibly.

Don't forget that companies like amazon earned their right to pay no taxes federal tax despite benefiting from public works like infrastrcture and all those green house gas emissions. But they did earn all that money and helped to close small businesses that can't compete. Thanks jeff!

The idea that Republicans are the party of balanced budgets and fiscal responsibility - and the Democrats spend money like drunken sailors and run massive deficits - is probably one of the oldest GOP talking points; it's been around virtually forever. I remember a teacher back in the early 80s saying absentmindedly one day "of course, the Democrats are known for spending money they don't have" when talking about budgets. The problem, of course, is that it's not even close to the truth. Reagan ran massive deficits, George W. Bush ran massive deficits, and now Trump is running record deficits. And Republicans simply don't care. A more accurate description would be that Republicans are the party of fiscal responsibility whenever a Democrat is POTUS. Then they claim to care, and they complain incessantly about how Democrats are driving us to ruin with budget-busting spending. But when one of their own becomes POTUS, they don't give a shit what he spends or what he spends it on.

Ongoing US GOP Debacle Thread: Embracing Trumpism/White Supremacy

Somehow people have been conditioned to believe tax and spend is less fiscally responsible than just spend and rack up debt.

Republicans have basically been acting on MMT for decades. And Democrats don’t help matters with half measures. They either practice fiscal responsibility while letting Republicans and media portray them as out of touch spenders or run on big spending policy while emphasizing how to pay for it.

At least dolt 45 blew up trade agreements, started trade wars, paid subsidies, and appears poised to get similar, at best, new agreements. Flat circle. This show would be true detective season one if they only had child abusers involved...

See the KY GOP pardons.

Do republicans play the circle game while waiting on line to vote for pedophiles, sexual assaulters, and and misogynists?

Pretty much

Democrats need to be out hammering the truth. Do what Republicans do with lies, repeat them until they become truth.

I look forward to Fox News fact check if McCarthy’s blatant lies based off the IG report so that they don’t experience Angus’ righteous indignation.

McCarthy took money from Parnas. Hypocrite of the party of phonies.
