Ongoing US GOP Debacle Thread: Seditious Republicans march toward authoritarianism

Yeah, I love her argument that Trump doesn't represent the "mainstream" of the GOP, but she's so concerned that the Democratic Party's base has moved too far left and that "Biden the moderate" has just disappeared and morphed into this supporter of radical far-left ideas. In other words, AOC and the other members of the Squad are running the Democratic Party and telling poor Joe what to do, but Trump really has nothing to do with the GOP. It's almost breathtaking in its dishonesty and disingenuousness.

The GOP has evolved to the point that it is standing on a foundation of utter falsehoods.

Thus did they make themselves ready for the Trump takeover, which they now essentially embrace. Even if some of them have to lie about not liking it.

Even the so-called intellectual foundations of conservatism have been shown to be false.

The GOP is based on hate for Democrats right now and that hate is fueled by lies.

LOL

Hillary's lies.

Uh huh.

Angus, this is for you.

This is worth contemplating, because in this election year we are grappling with something entirely new. The president, the Republican Party, and its campaign machine are collectively seeking to create a completely false picture of the world. This isn’t just a matter of wishful thinking or a few white lies. The president’s campaign staff needs voters to believe that the pandemic is over, or else that it never mattered; that 200,000 people did not really die; that schools aren’t closed; that shops aren’t boarded up; that nothing much happened to the economy; that America is ever more respected around the world; that climate change isn’t real; that the U.S. has no legitimate protesters, only violent thugs who have been paid by secretive groups. This fantasy has to be repeated every day, in multiple forms, on Fox News, in GOP Facebook ads, on websites like RedState. Inevitably, it will affect people’s brains.

Yep.

And all dissenters are part of a grand HOAX to make TRUMP look bad (stupid, incompetent, corrupt, etc.).

Like he needs any help accomplishing this.

Trump Brain Syndrome? Fox News Syndrome? Republican Cognitive Impairment Syndrome? Dittohead Delirium?

And yet it might work. It's enough to make one wonder, had Fox and other right-wing social media been around in the Great Depression, could enough voters could have been convinced of an alternate reality to reelect Hoover. "The Depression is all the Democrats fault! Governor Franklin D. Roosevelt caused the Stock Market Crash! The economy is turning the corner - don't vote for that radical FDR or the recovery will end! All of these terrible stories about the Dust Bowl are fake news - the soil really isn't blowing away out there, it's just lies by overrated coastal elite experts! Yeah, about one-quarter of adults can't get a job, but three-quarters of people still have GREAT jobs thanks to our wonderful President Hoover! All these stories of people losing their homes and living in their cars and begging for food are fake news spread by the progressive elites! All of these breadlines that you see are really just paid actors pretending to be hungry." And on and on.

Ongoing US GOP Debacle Thread: Embracing Trumpism/White Supremacy

Exactly. Keep in mind much of our history already has a Fox News spin as well.

Good to know. Make sure you don’t mail-in ballots, Pubs.

I’m impressed the Chinese have all the correct city council, comptroller, ag commissioner, etc candidates on there

Haha, good grief at anyone that believes these people.

I have to believe that selling those Trump is King shirts on a website called Liberty Hangout is tongue in cheek
