Ongoing US GOP Debacle Thread: Seditious Republicans march toward authoritarianism

This is a ridiculous, uncommon story but a few common trends in our society and politics make it possible:

1. Republicans aren't expected to govern especially when Democrats are in charge. We expect them to just bitch and complain about not being in charge instead of doing something.

2. White armed militia don't fear being gunned down by police like many non-white American people do.

3. Republicans do not respect the rule of law unless they can use it to oppress people not like themselves.

Snowflake GOP Rep wants to defund PBS and NPR because of ‘Arthur’ episode

”Enough is enough. Recent programming on the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) has offended many conservative and religious taxpayers who do not want the children inculcated with liberal viewpoints on sensitive topics. The Constitution does not grant the federal government the authority to subsidize any media conglomerate. Let’s bring an end to forcing Americans to subsidize media programming that is unconstitutional.”

This whole article is out of control. But essentially, the case in question: Pregnant woman gets in a fight. Gets shot. Unborn fetus is hit by bullet and dies. Shooter not charged bc self-defense. The woman who got shot is charged with manslaughter for initiating a fight while knowing she was 5 months pregnant. Merica.

GOP lawmakers create hurdles for citizen ballot initiatives

Arkansas voters have been active in recent years, passing ballot initiatives that legalized medical marijuana, raised the minimum wage and expanded casino gambling.

That hasn’t gone over well with Republicans.

Arkansas’ GOP-dominated Legislature has taken steps this year that will make it harder to put such proposals before voters, and they are not the only ones.

Florida, North Dakota, South Dakota and Utah also have enacted restrictions on the public’s ability to place initiatives on the ballot. In Michigan, the state’s top election official is being sued over Republican-enacted requirements that make it harder to qualify proposals for the ballot.

In all, lawmakers in 16 states introduced more than 120 bills this year that would weaken the initiative process, according to the Ballot Initiative Strategy Center. The moves worry advocates who say they undermine the idea of direct democracy and could effectively shut down the initiative process in some states.

It’s almost like Republicans have rigged the system in their favor.

Didn’t know where to put this, but in case you wanted 70 minutes of Ben Shapiro getting clowned on, you’re in luck

If you feel that way, there is a very simple solution: vote Democrat and convince others to do the same.

Do you think it's fair that Republicans can get 45% of the vote and get the same result that requires Democrats to get 55% of the vote?
