Favorite Deacon Dunks

2-lg.jpg

This is the one I remember most as a student...is it in any of the videos posted so far?

who woulda thunk that scooter banks would eclipse carroll o'connor and marc blucas as our greatest actor over, as avon barksdale in The Wire.

Rodney Rogers dunks over Shawn Bradley.

McDonalds All-American Game 1990. Rodney was in that game with Grant Hill and other big names, and Rodney dominated.

A few months prior, Rodney's 2-handed reverse jam over Bradley in the Raleigh Glaxo Christmas tournament was also really impressive.

Or any of Chris King or Anthony Tucker's dunks in the ACC-Big East Challenge against Seton Hall - just nasty dunks.

1996 vs UNC at home. Alley-oop to Rusty on Sr Night with game in hand. Best dunk in WFU history.

Reminiscent of Josh Howard's phantom fifth in Duke 2003. Actually a little worse.

Some good ones that haven't been mentioned from Duncan, Howard, and others. Josh Howard's sick dunk at home vs. State is at 1:37.

No dunk, but that 3OT win at UNC Paul's frosh year was one of my favorite Wake games (at end of video)

JJ's best dunk was the one where he fell on his ass vs I think Duke

One of my favorite dunks. We used to be so good....dammit.... Second best part is Al-Farouq throwing the dime

Man that DeaconSports YouTube channel is the best. A couple of favs from the TITSWF era.

Those Wake teams will fall into a wormhole of ACC history. I watched just about every game and even I forgot how nasty those guys were, mainly because the body protects itself from traumatic short term memories. If they were wearing State uniforms, there would be statues and parades and Wolpfack Unlimited Awards bestowed in their honor. Still can't believe Wake's own management set fire to its own barn.

That was great. I remember that the UNC game occurred before we came back from xmas break but it was still a packed house. We had a lead throughout the whole game and they pulled close in the final minutes but it was a beatdown of the eventual national champs.

Too bad it went downhill.

And the fans who poured gasoline in the name of "culture."
