Palin "seriously interested" in running

Makes even less sense than Huckabee. Palin took a big true believer hit when she claimed multiple times she could have beaten Obama in 2012 but didn't run. Her earning potential peaked in 2011 and will plummet if she doesn't run in 2016 or runs and loses. She was never going to be President, but she left way too much money on the table by pretending to be a potential candidate between 2009-2011. She should have gone all in for a Rush-like radio/TV deal, but she tried to be both a candidate and a celebrity and she didn't do well in either role over the last few years.

Everybody knows that she will not get the nomination and not become president. But let us allow our politicians, preferably with other people's money, to provide us with circuses, and Palin is definitely Circus Maximus material. So, let the show begin!

This could be the most expensive reality tv show ever.

Liberal hippies don't get picked up while hitchhiking, but sluts wearing tight jeans do. Her most recent Sportsman Channel commercial. Unreal.

"You Cumming?"

Huckabee's decrying the decline of American culture and future President Palin is bringing Ted Nugent on her reality show and posing with a "Fuck you Michael Moore" poster (complete with crosshairs). The greatly underestimated John Rocker/Hank Williams bloc will put her over the top.

Times are a little bit different than when Nixon had too much stubble in the first televised debate, Bush Sr was baffled by a check out scanner and looked at his watch during a debate, and Gore sighed at one of W's debate answers.

Obviously the first question is, what percentage of voters will not be able to distinguish between the real Palin and the Palin impersonators?

Palin used to annoy me, but now she just cracks me up. There's no way that she didn't know not all of America would be stoked about a picture of 6 year old using a dog as a step stool, so she responded to the negative feedback by going nuclear on dog eating Obama, PETA, and Ellen DeGeneres.

Even Trump doesn't have that skill, he was genuinely surprised when he caught a lot of crap for dropping multiple expletives in a speech during his last presidential "campaign". Huckabee doesn't get it at all-he may not like Beyonce's dancing and costumes, but people don't like a judgmental fundy criticizing others' parenting skills after his kid hanged a stray dog as a teenager.

If Sarah actually does run, will be awesome to see how much criticism she'll get from Wall Street and country club 'Pubs when she's doing her usual crap. Will be like a brawl between crowds from Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Boston Pops.

She cost McCain the presidency. She needs to go away.

She did not cause MCCain the presidency. She has become a joke (justifiably) but she was a net positive to his campaign. He was absolutely dead in the water when he announced her...no energy and no support from the base. Overnight that changed. I catch a lot of shit for saying that selecting her was a great political move and that is easy to laugh at now. But the truth is she injected his campaign with energy and rallied the base. Obama was a lighting bolt and no one was going to beat him (especially a really old dude). She has become worse than a joke but she actually helped McCain.

Greatest VP selection of all time? You betcha.

It's amazing how many people don't remember how bad the economy was before Obama took office.

She may have rallied the GOP base, but that selection made moderates and undecideds think twice about McCain. One, him letting the GOP right strong arm him into picking a VP mate he didn't want, and two the specter of her being one bullet away from the presidency. Yikes...Obviously the Bush presidency hurt any GOP candidate's chances, but there were a lot of undecideds not sold on Obama and his politics. Two bad choices.

George Bush cost Mccain the presidency, twice.

To an extent. The black baby thing in SC was disgusting, even for Karl Rove. McCain was an intriguing candidate in 2000 and a bit of a centrist on some issues - the type of Pub who is more attractive to independents. And had he been the Pub nominee in 2000, I think he would have won outright without going to the Supreme Court. But he was a shell of his former self by 2008. He'd spent the last 8 years kissing up to the Religious Right, which still didn't trust him. He ran away from his own immigration bill that he and Teddy authored and which was backed by Bush Lite. And he really looked and sounded old - kinda like Hillary does now but worse. By moving so far right, he'd lost who he was in order to get the nomination in 2008, and he only got the nomination because of a weak field where the wingnuts took each other out. Even without the economy tanking (and both parties had blood on their hands with the mortgage crisis), Obama had energized the youth vote much more than ever before, and there was a bigger than usual African-American turnout. Add to that how strangely McCain behaved during the campaign and mortgage crisis. McCain was going to lose 2008 no matter what.

"Moderates" were not going to vote for McCain when he was running against Obama. Like I said, he was a lighting bolt and he was going to capture the awe of the so called moderates. He had no chance to win but the only hope he had was to super charge the base (a base that was less than enthusiastic about him) and Palin helped in that regard.
