Republicans for POTUS, 2016 Edition

So, Romney and Jeb Bush had a private one on one meeting in Utah this past week... Guess the Bushes made Romney an offer he couldn't refuse.

Bush/Romney ticket?

I'm guessing a cabinet position. SecTreas?

That would be a very wise move. Romney would be great in that role. Still don't like having a third Bush in the office, don't think he can defeat Clinton straight up anyway. The past would simply be too difficult to overcome.

I've never been less excited about a presidential election. I have so many hang ups about the 2 frontrunners right now.

Except if you read what Romney said, he says he's expecting a candidate to emerge who is not nationally known and is just now getting his message out to Americans...aka the OPPOSITE of Jebber.

If its Jeb vs. Hildabeast, I'm right there with you.

Most Americans don't know shit about Jeb Bush other than his last name.

Agreed. Especially since the outlook for the economy, military involvement overseas, and other areas look to be in much better shape come 2016.

I'm not so sure about that one. Feel good about the economy though.

He's well known, I'll try and find the Romney language. If he's talking about Jeb Bush I'll be a monkey's uncle!

"I believe that one of our next generation of Republican leaders, one who may not be as well known as I am today, one who has not yet taken their message across the country, one who is just getting started, may well emerge as being better able to defeat the Democrat nominee. In fact, I expect and hope that to be the case."

Sorry, i should have posted this before being argumentative.

Romney could be ushering in a bold move by older Republicans. "Next generation of Republican leaders" is strong language coming from a guy the same age as the Dem favorite who lost to a 51 year old incumbent. It would be a smart for other Pubs to step down using similar language.

Jeb and Christie together make it much harder for some of the fringe candidates (Huckabee, Santorum, Perry, Cruz, Carson, Palin) to break through. Had Mitt joined the field, the establishment vote and donors would have been split three ways. Christie seems determined to compete in Iowa while Jeb can skip it and avoid a potential embarrassing loss or being forced to the right on social issues. Establishment can keep Graham afloat through SC to avoid somebody getting on a roll (Iowa, NH, SC) before Florida.

Walker or Kasich would expand the electoral map, putting blue states (WI, MI, PA) and swing states (OH, IN, IA, MO) into play. Jeb with Martinez or Sandoval as VP would work, but Kasich or Walker might work if the GOP decides to give up on Latinos altogether.

Pretty sure this thread was started to bait rjkarl out of self-imposed exile. Since when has he ever been able to hold back on a thread about what Republicans should do?

Walker's for a path to citizenship, so he's not a Hispanic killer.

Kaisch is the Republican that I could live with -- it was Rand Paul until I really started to read into his beliefs on things other than I agreed with. Holy shit. What a crazy person.

I don't remember where I posted the odds before to compare, but here are the odds to win the presidency now according to Sportsbook with Romney taken off the board:

Clinton +140
Bush +500
Rubio +1000
Walker +1200
Christie +1800
Paul +2000
Warren +2500
Huckabee +2500

Party Elected:

Republican +140
Democrat -150
Other +5000

Rubio is really overrated. I feel like every time he has a national stage, he donks it up.
