Recommend good stuff you've seen on Netflix streaming

re-watched Casino again now that it's on Netflix. I know Goodfellas is considered superior but I've always preferred Casino.

Casino is one of the top 5 gaps on my movie watching CV. I'll rectify that tout suite now that I know it's on Netflix.

The only thing that always makes me laugh about Casino is the car blowing up scene and the obvious cut to a dummy right before it explodes

finally got my wife to watch The Godfather now that Netflix has added them. only been asking her to watch it since we started dating in 2008. she liked it pretty good but wants to rewatch it again since she had a lot of questions. and she wants to watch Part II (good) and III (would rather not).

yeah, what a great way to kick off your movie. and then end it with pesci in tighty-whities

Is anyone watching Hap and Leonard? We are just 3 episodes in, but my wife is not a fan - too slow, too contrived, etc. I kind of like it and am curious to see where it goes.

i posted about this a few weeks ago. i enjoyed it, something different. recently finished season 2.

Oh man, Mozart in the Jungle is so good. Second episode of this fourth season really got to me, and had a great use of Vaughan Williams’ “Youth and Love” from Songs of Travel, which is one of my favorite things ever and with which I was obsessed about this time last year. Really got to me.

Wife and I just finished Wild, Wild Country. Utterly fascinating story that I had never heard of, and really well done by Netflix documentary crew. Sheela is a psycho

Just finished "Beyond The Edge" on Hulu. It's a real slow-burn sci-fi that takes a while to get into. It deals with the multiverse and thus has chronological and temporal jumps. It focuses a lot on the isolation of space, a-la Moon (with Sam Rockwell), and has some weird 2001: A Space Odyssey type sets that seem out of place in a modern/futuristic space movie. It's also partly in reverse chronological order like Memento, so it takes focus to keep up.

All that said, I enjoyed it, but it might be pushing the limit on what you can take at just about 2 hours exactly. Proceed with caution.

started Wild Wild Country based on the recc's here and man did it bring back childhood memories (no, I wasn't in a cult). I remember growing up near Charlotte so we watched the Charlotte news and read the Charlotte observer and in 1985 a huge story was the Bhagwan getting arrested at the charlotte airport. There were tons of stories about him, I especially remember that he had 90 rolls royces and how he wasn't happy with the Mecklenburg county jails. I hadn't thought about that in years and when I started watching Wild Wild Country and they started talking about the Bhagwan I made the connection. Wild stuff.

here is an article from 1985
