Recommend good stuff you've seen on Netflix streaming

Triple Frontier was terrible. Shame with such a solid cast. Just painful watching them bumble around like the Keystone Cops. Netflix seems to be getting a lot of terrible cast-off movies lately - I assume this was one that would have otherwise gone straight to DVD.

+1

Meanwhile, Highway Men was excellent I thought. I was thoroughly entertained.

Well, ST Discovery's S2 finale was interesting. Didn't expect that choice but i'm anxious to see where it goes (a show about actual space exploration!?!)

I'll actually miss the Pike/Spock/Number 1 crew and seeing the enterprise but maybe it's not gone. Seems like a lot of sets built just for this season.

Velvet Buzzsaw is kind of a mess but entertaining. Great cast, Jake, Russo, Malkovich, Daveed Digs, the big sister from stranger things; doesn't really go anywhere but fun to watch everyone take their swings.

“A Stupid and Futile Gesture” was better than I expected it to be, but I can’t say that I knew much of that story going in.

If you like "Master of None" or "Atlanta" then check out Ramy (a Hulu original). I love this series.

After this season, all I want is a Pike-centric Enterprise show, but we can't have that of course. Pike is the best thing that's happened on the show. I didn't dig the "Principal Skinner"ing of all the heretofore anomalies in STD, it seems like the cheapest way out but I am glad they didn't go with the "Control is the origin of the Borg" route. OTOH, the battle scenes were ridiculous (using that word in a good sense).

Heard an interview with Ramy on On Point. Seems like a real good dude and the clips from his show were great. Don’t have Hulu but I would watch it if I did.

Do you have Spotify? I understand Hulu is included with Spotify now.

Agree with this. Every time the Enterprise was on screen I just wanted to see more Pike/enterprise.

had somehow never even heard of Catastrophe until I read this thread...watched all 4 seasons in just a few days and loved it. so good.

If you want to laugh and cringe, the new Jeselnik and newish Gervais sets are solid.

Watched Knock Down the house this weekend, and I enjoyed it. The initial premise of the documentary was to follow 4 women running for political office in 2018, but the documentary pretty much just ends up following one for obvious reasons. Despite what you may think of AOC's politics, the documentary does a good job of showing why her victory was so impressive and surprising. She outworked everyone else on the campaign trail. And before you start clutching your pearls about watching a Democratic Socialist (insert gif of woman falling onto a fainting couch) it doesn't touch on her politics at all.

I give it a solid 5 out 7 hammer and sickles.

it's real bleak and disturbing stuff

i'll probably keep watching, but gonna have to be in the right mood for it i think

We watched the first season of Bonding over the past two nights. I think it's great and hysterical. And the eps are super short, so there really isn't much of a commitment involved.

Didn't watch it when it aired on FX but the American Crime Story season on Versace is really solid. I remember when it happened but honestly didn't know anything about the killer. Really well done show.

yeah we immensely enjoyed it, particularly on a recent rewatch. I think when it was first on we watched the first few eps and were disappointed it wasn't as good as OJ. then we binged the remainder of the season on our DVR one afternoon and loved it. and binged on Netflix in like one afternoon a few months ago. I hope more of these actually do end up getting made, but they keep ditching storylines like 2 different Katrina ones and a Bill/Monica one.

Finally, got around to watching it and I enjoyed Outlaw King quite a bit. Good chill watch war movie.
