Recommend good stuff you've seen on Netflix streaming

Finally got around to watching Coda due to its Oscar wins. I think I had avoided it thinking I needed to be in a proper frame of mind. That was a mistake. It's a very easygoing movie, surprisingly hilarious at times, and generally makes you feel good. I don't know if it was the Best Picture this year, but it was a damn fine movie. Highly recommended.

Watched the first 3 episodes of Abbott Elementary. It's an Office/Parks&Rec style mockumentary on ABC that takes place in a Philadelphia elementary school. It has gotten better with each episode as the characters settle into their roles after a somewhat clunky pilot. It also has the added benefit of shedding light on the very real issue of underfunded and understaffed schools.

All episodes are available on YouTube TV.

I thought it was excellent. All of the cast gave great performances. Troy Kotsur definitely earned his Supporting Actor win.

Emilia Jones deserved a Best Actress nomination.

people, if you're not watching Reacher you should check it out. it is hilarious boomer dad porn.

We are doing succession now, and I'm still kinda waiting for it to get great? I mean it's fine.

Agreed, Abbott Elementary is great.

Pieces of Her is pretty solid through the first few episodes...both the wife and I are enjoying.

Pieces of her really fizzled the last couple of eps. I take back my recommendation.

Yeah, I wish there were more hints/plot points about the twist(s), rather than something they just inserted in the last two episodes.

I am finding Welcome to Flatch hilarious. It is on Fox but the first 7 episodes are available on Hulu.
The wife and I also love Ghosts on ABC (I think...).

The Outlaws on Amazon is really good through 2 episodes. Has sort of a Pulp Fictionish vibe, with Christopher Walken doing a pretty solid Mickey Donovan thing.

"Winning Time" was given a second season. I suppose if I had my wishes they'd do 3 seasons - the next one being about a finals loss, maybe 86 then the final season when Magic retired. If they have to do only one more I definitely want the latter scenario. Any more than that and this seems like something that can get real old, real fast.

Enjoyed Werewolves Within on Showtime/Prime. Has the Verizon lady as one of the leads, along with Sam Richardson who is awesome in everything. Verizon lady is great and adorable in it (she seems like the perfect mousey brunette for PH).

It's a comedy-horror, whodunnit. Like a horror version of the movie Clue, and apparently it is based on a video game that I never heard of (but it is certainly one of the best video game movies ever made -- not a high bar). Not laugh out loud, but well written and amusing throughout.

Did a 3 month trial of AppleTV to finally watch Ted Lasso... And now watching Severance, which has been fucking awesome through 2 episodes.

For anyone that has seen at least the first couple of episodes, I like to talk to my wife like she's in "wellness" with Irv and tell her all of the great things her "outie" does. It really creeps her out.

"Your outie drives a minivan."

"Your outie enjoys exercising vigorously on a daily basis."

And so on.

Severance was great.

I enjoyed it all the way through but the back half of the season really picks up.

Very excited it got picked up for a second season.

Severance was really good, but I kept reading about how "shocking" and amazing the final episode was, and my wife and I were both left a little underwhelmed. I won't post any spoilers, but I was expecting way more explanation than we got.

Watching Severance and Upload at the same time to get that double dose of capitalist dystopia
