whaaaaaaaa???? daaaammmn farooq

Woj got his name wrong though.

Was Olshey the guy that drafted him with the Clips? (edit: yes)

"He was named GM on March 9, 2010 upon the firing of GM and Head Coach Mike Dunleavy.[7]"

Aminu was selected by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2010 NBA draft with the 8th overall pick.

Honestly seems about right for Farouq. 7.5 mil/yr is the new 4.5 mil/yr in a couple yrs

didn't he play for $1 million on a 1 year deal last year or something though? Whoever his agent was that put him on that team with that contract for an audition earned his money.

However, I feel like Zach Lowe gets people paid these days. I just rooted for Bismack Biyombo because he showed up in one of his articles.

nice job chief. someone was paying attention during the playoffs.

I'm also wondering how Davis got $145M max when the max for Leonard was only $90M

Because Davis's deal is an extension that doesn't kick in for another two seasons when the cap will be much, much higher than it is now.

Leonard in. Now helping Spurs recruit Aldridge.

Goran reportedly asking for less than expected from Miami to secure Dwyane's return

Trade Boris and Patty for Spencer Haywood?

Official 2015 NBA Offseason Thread: Timmy D Recruiting his Replacement

Brendan. They'd be good fits for Cleveland. Mills especially.

Bunch of teams are going to try to get that Haywood deal. It's non-guaranteed at around $10.5 million. Heat, Spurs, anyone else close to the cap is calling Cleveland. Riley is going to be so pissed if he actually has to deal with Lebron to bring DWade back but he may have to given the repeater tax they are staring at. (thanks LeBatard for my info)

I'm psyched for Farouq. Pretty deep into last season he was languishing on the bench. In December and January he only played about 12 minutes a game. He made himself a ton of money between February and April.

Lol, NBA. Lillard for 5 yrs, 120 million while Leonard goes for 5 yrs, 90 million? Go Spurs.

As with the Davis thing, there's a higher max if you did things like make the all star team or make all nba while on your rookie deal. Its called the Derrick Rose rule

A Designated Player may be eligible to earn 30% of the salary cap (rather than the standard 25%) if he passes certain criteria. To be eligible, the player must be voted to start in two All-Star Games, or be named to an All-NBA Team twice (at any level), or be named MVP. Officially titled the "5th Year 30% Max Criteria"[2] it has been dubbed (and is more commonly known as) the "Derrick Rose Rule" after the 2011 MVP,[13] due to the fact that when the criterion was introduced, Rose was the only player in the NBA eligible to sign the maximum extension (due to his MVP award).[14] The reasoning for the rule is to suitably reward players being extended off of their rookie contract who are considered to be of a higher "caliber" than their peers, without restricting them to the lower (25%) salary level.[15] A player may sign a "5th Year, 30% Max" contract before the final year of his rookie contract and before fulfilling the criteria needed to receive the 30% salary grade. Should the player fail to fulfil the criteria before the start of his Designated Player contract, he will receive the standard five year, 25% Designated Player contract. James Harden of the Houston Rockets had such a clause in his contract extension, but failed to meet the criteria.[16] The only player in the NBA who was attempting to qualify for a full 30% contract in 2013–14 was Paul George, who signed a provisional 30%/5 year contract in September 2013. George, who had made the All-NBA third team in 2012-13,[17] qualified by again making the All-NBA third team.[18]

works out pretty well that he "only" was a finals mvp and dpoy.

Stoked for Farouq. He deserved it

Rumors in Dallas are the Mavs are going to try to convince him to take similar money on 2-3 year deal with player options every year. That way they have his Bird Rights and he can opt out When cap raises significantly after new TV deal etc. then they can sign him with Bird Rights for much more money

The $120M number for Lillard is assuming he doesn't satisfy the Rose Rule. If he makes another all-nba team next year then he will actually get Anthony Davis money ($145M). The difference between Lillard's and Leonard's deals is the year in which their extensions kick in. Most likely, Lillaard will get 25% of the cap just like Leonard. However, the cap this % is based off of will be much higher for Lillard.
