Pro Life / Pro Choice Debate

When the first woman in a red state inevitably dies from the refusal of her doctors or hospital to give the perfectly normal, necessary medical treatment due to fear of being sued, fined, losing their license, or even being arrested and prosecuted, the excuses, denials, and deflections by Republicans and right-wing media nationally will be disgusting to watch. And yet we all know it's coming.

It’s just god’s will.

A new day a new go fuck yourself scooter

Health care decisions should be between a patient, their doctor, and the hospital lawyers.

Insurance companies will probably come into play soon too. It has got to be way cheaper to cover a routine abortion for an ectopic implantation than to cover sepsis blood poisoning with IV antibiotics and several days hospitalization, surgical repair of ruptured fallopian tube, and any other complications.

Yeah, but they could just jack up rates, maybe blame it on Dobbs, and increase profits, too.

Would be nice to see a unified response to these requests from Google/Facebook/Twitter to simply eliminate their services from these states. How much revenue can they really be generating from rubes in South Dakota anyway?

Just post a disclaimer one morning that says due to court-ordered data access requests that violate company policy, Google can no longer provide access within the jurisdiction of that state.

If you're going to hijack technology meant to improve protection against the dangers of pregnancy and use it instead to punish women, say bye-bye to your modern social media existence. Good luck building your own replacements idiots.

Not sure about revenue, but they're probably generating plenty of data from them.

Didn't need another reason to hate Harbaugh/Michigan, but here we are:

Harbaugh:

"To me, the right choice is to have the courage to let the unborn be born."

Not sure "let" is the right term here.

Neither is "choice."

I had no idea Matt Birk was in politics.

The abortion=slavery one is pretty common. Pretty sure Wrangor has used it on this thread a time or two. It's a stretch for people desperate to find a moral foundation for amoral positions.

The best comparison for the anti-abortion movement is probably prohibition.

These people really, really hate the very idea of women competing with men for jobs and being independent. They still think women should be happy just getting married and raising kids at home like Father Knows Best or the Dick Van Dyke show. It makes a mockery of the notion that they loathe women like Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, or AOC for any major reason other than that they're seen as tough, outspoken, career women.
