About time we get one of these threads on the board, especially with football coming up soon.

Week 1 of the NFL season, at least three people will make $1M. Draftkings is even having a $10M tourney that pays $2M to first place.

What site does everyone play on? What sports?

I prefer FanDuel and got pretty serious during football last year, and played a decent amount with hockey and baseball but it's quite the daily commitment for those sports. I personally prefer DRAFT (referral link if interested as they're doing $10 referrals) for baseball as takes far less research but still opportunities to get an edge. You play H2H and actually draft a 5 person team against someone else.

Could you give a little blurb about how the FanDuel thing works?

I was researching FF and one site gives you a full premium membership if you deposit $10 at FanDuel

Rotogrinders? If you're going to use a referral for FD/DK, I'd recommend doing it through Rotogrinders.

Basic idea with FanDuel and DraftKings is they are salary cap'd games where you select a team based off set prices for each player. The game then lasts one day or weekend and you can compete one-on-one against others or in daily leagues or tournaments. A quick google search can teach you much more.

Yea, a lot of "game" and "fantasy sports" stuff is blocked at work, so I won't be able to read that here.

But I'll check it out when I get home.

I joined FanDuel and entered the MLB freeroll tonight.

Interesting stuff. Going to see how well I do during NFL season.

I play baseball fairly regularly. Strongly prefer draftkings to fanduel. 2 pitchers to 1 and IMO the scoring format is better. Plus, players lock at the start of their respective games on draftkings, versus the entire roster locking at start of the first game in fanduel. That's a big deal in baseball with possible rainouts and not knowing who is staring in late games often until the early games start.

The draftkings app is far superior to the fanduel app as well. I had a fairly big win in a baseball tournament earlier this year, and had the money transferred into my paypal account within an hour of requesting it.

Rotogrinders is a tremendous resource. You can get a free account by opening a fanduel/draftkings account, plus a deposit bonus.

I am a Fan Duel afficianado myself. Mostly, College Football. A little NFL. A group of us did NBA this year and had a blast with it. Basically, a 5 or 6 team closed contest. Winner take all. $5.00. Three times a week.

Yep, baseball has been my bread and butter this year. For the most part, I default to external research on pitchers as I just don't think it's worth creating my own model when 90% of the time, you're taking the best pitcher for the day (for H2H and 50-50s). For hitters, I've created a model that is primarily based off R v L splits and Vegas run totals. Rotogrinders projections aren't bad for hitters but they have a strong recency bias (which I'm not a fan of) and overvalue players with horrible splits (e.g., Josh Donaldson and Nelson Cruz against righties). For weather, which is very important in DFS baseball, Kevin Roth has been extremely helpful (https://twitter.com/KevinRothWx).

I could never get into basketball because I was rarely available at deadline which is so important given last minute lineup changes. Also, I agree with some of the arguments the lack of event-based scoring makes the game very predictable and harder to be beat the vig over the long-run.

I play pretty regularly on Draft kings.

Did pretty poor last season in NFL but place really well in most MLS/EPL contests. Also cashed in the last two PGA millionaire makers (30.00 and 70.00 respectively)

If anyone is interested in a partnership then shoot me a PM. I know next to nothing about baseball but from what I read it seems like there's money to be made. I'd be more than happy to trade MLS/EPL lineups for MLB lineups under the condition of not joining the same contests.

Interesting.

We have small team with a hockey specialist, me as a baseball specialist, and all of us play football. Couldnt beat basketball and I wouldn't call anyone a golf specialist (I tried with the ShotLink intelligence and ran some simulations but couldn't beat Vegas odds to finish top 20).

I had Day, Finau, Koepka, Fowler, Reed, and Kisner for the PGA

If Kisner doesn't bogey 18 to miss the cut by 1 on Friday I would have won serious cash.

Did really well on football last year. Key was to play the late replacement for a hurt guy. Cheap price and good production.

Won $20 on tonight's preseason games on DraftKings.

Tried MLB on FanDuel, because that's all they had available, but did horridly.

Finished 3 contests in the top 5 tonight because of Martavis Bryant. Awesome stuff.

Have any of you guys won any good money?

I won $3,500 on a $3 entry in a baseball contest on draftkings early this season. Withdrew $3,000 and have been playing with winnings the rest of the season, going up and down.

Yeah, we've had a few cashes over $1000 but predominantly we'll play 50/50s for all sports except for football. We'll be putting a decent amount down for DraftKings' $10M tourney week 1.

Cashed both of my EPL leagues saturday morning (Bet 20.00 win 36.00 and bet 3.00 win 10.00) and then turned around saturday night to miss on my MLS league because of a goal being ruled an own goal 2 hours after the match ended. That sucked

i missed out on some cash on a new site called fantasydraft.com last night when deandre hopkins' td catch when he was interfered with in the end zone was ruled incomplete

does anyone play the "ticketed" contests on dk?

FantasyDraft is the site I use for daily fantasy sports also. With their newness you can occasionally catch guaranteed contests where the # of entries guarantee you a payback.
