Dead & Company

Just saw the show in Detroit, and two at Alpine Valley. This band is awesome.
 
Was planning on seeing them in DC this summer, but we had a going away party for some great friends. Hoping they can make a stop at the Xmas Jam or something of that nature.

Bobby stayed in town and played with Sir Paul at Fenway last night on Hi Hi Hi and Helter Skelter. Gronk played along on air guitar.
 
Mayer wore THIS on stage with Dead. Major respect for him as a player and he's killing it on this tour. But holy shit Mayer.

^ true, but have some respect for Jerry and the boys. That's terrible. I'm surprised Weir let him on stage.
 
There was an article in Rolling Stone last summer that said Phil's wife used to be controlling of what people wore on stage in the post-Jerry years (esp. for Phil Lesh and Friends lineups), including banning t shirts and bandanas. Bobby prob doesn't give a shit what people wear after that.

Phil's wife has caused quite a bit of friction with several musicians over the year.

I really like Mayer. his technical chops are really good and he has a very jerry like tone. He is great in the bluesy and country more up-tempo numbers. In the jazzy hyperspace of Dark Star, PITB or other loose jams, he doesn't have those Garcia melodic jazz sensibilities.

But he is a hell of a guitarist and I like what he brings to the table.
 
What's weird is how they switch up which songs Bobby and Mayer sing. Like when I saw them in November, Mayer sang Scarlet while Bobby sang Fire. Now Bobby does both. And when I watched the Bonnaroo webcast Mayer sang Bird Song, but I was listening to one of last weekend's Fenway shows and Bobby sang it.

Yeah, Weir wears whatever the hell he wants. Some of his selections look like he picked them up at Goodwill on the way to the show. But Mayer's look was gawdawful.
