The last 2 mens basketball coaches.....

Manning projects neither confidence nor competence. In pressure situations, college teams go to the well for extra resources needed to push through and win. The well is their coach. Over and over our team looks to Danny for some measure of experience or expertise to give them the belief they can emerge victorious. Over and over the well has been shown to be dry.

Prior coach caused the herd mentality that overlooks all the improvements which have resulted in ultra competitiveness in almost every game.

Instead of being pumped about how close we already are in year two, we demand a firing and give up.

Ignorance clearly isn't bliss.

Nope, but cant wait to watch our team next year. It will be the first team that is truly terrible ol Danny Manning's. Marginal improvement from current results would equate to like 8 more wins this year with the hardest schedule in the country. But those are just dumb ol numbers and supposition.

By all means though, continue to ignore sos, continue to degrade the incoming class like you did the one you are now petitioning the mean dumb coach for more PT, and ignore how big of a difference the coach had to make to put us in a position to win basically every single game...road or otherwise.

Yeah lets convert the total lack of a chance under bzz into should win every time out and give up. haha

Adult internet brats.

I am frustrated too, we arent converting close games to wins in the regular season...but please dont be a publicly shitty fan base. It is neither classy nor smart. At least be one of the two if you demand our coach and team to be 50%.

Adjusted for strength of schedule, our peers are teams like Grand Canyon, UNC Asheville, and IPFW (whoever the hell that is).

Did we suspect that we reached out to Archie Miller during the last search? Didn't realize until today that he had Dayton in the top 15.... Could we make another run at him after next season?

have been hired off of one year of success at other places. [Redacted] had one really good year at Air Force and Wellman became smitten over that. Manning caught lightning in a bottle at Tulsa where they have traditionally sucked, had a great year and took them to the NCAA. We are Wake Forest damn it, one of the traditionally better ACC basketball programs, a member of the Big 4, part of Tobaco road and we've got an AD that hires basketball coaches with resumes with one year of really good success after many years of coaching and a resume of one year of success in only 2 years of head coaching. Is is inexcusable the job Wellman has done! :rulz:

Can somebody please explain to me how Wake Forest has been one of the traditionally better ACC basketball programs? NCAA Tournament wise, no way. Are you just saying wins in the regular season? ACC Championships? Not sure where we've been a traditionally better program outside of the fans thinking we have been….

I agree, I don't want Wellman making the next hire. I do think we could've gotten somebody with a proven track record of success, even it was not a well known name. That was the whole thing with [Redacted], we hired a guy that hardly anybody knew and his record sucked. Yeah, if you hire a guy without much of a name, you might still go "who," but if you can look at their record and they've got a good winning percentage with at least 5 years experience as an HC then you can see some logic behind it. There was no logic to the [Redacted] hire and the Manning hire seemed to be based on name more than anything.

Could have and should have hired Chris Mack from Xaiver.

NCAA tournament wise no, I meant that when you look back over the history of the ACC, we were probably more often than not top half of the league, nothing more. Somebody on here a week or 2 ago was saying how we used to be a national power and I and several other pointed out that certainly wasn't the case. However, we've traditionally had a pretty good basketball, playing in the traditionally best conference in the country. Bottom line, we deserve better than the shit salad we've eating for going on 6 years now.

Over a 20 year period, we were one of the best 20-25 teams in the nation, which easily makes us one of the better teams in the ACC on a tier just behind the elites like Duke and UNC over that same time period.

We went to the post season 18 out of the 20 years preceding [name redacted]. 14/20 were to the NCAA's. Only one losing season.

Despite the Buzz error, since Odom started in 1989, Wake is still ranked #22 in Top 25 appearances, #23 in Top 10 appearances, #25 in Top 5 appearances, and #23 in #1 appearances. For the more recent years during which Skip and Dino coached, Wake was #15 in Top 25, #15 in the Top 10, #17 in Top 5, and #15 in #1 appearances. 4 of the teams (UNC, Duke, Pitt, Cuse) consistently ahead of us in those rankings are in the ACC, and Louisville hovers right around where we are. So, that leaves less than 10 jobs that would be steps up that aren't in the ACC.

The LOWF mentality runs deep with some of our fan base who, despite all of the evidence to the contrary, refuse to believe Wake Forest was an extremely successful basketball program for a long time up until the point that Wellman decided to run it into the ground.

Lol. I was crucified for saying we should go after Mack. It made perfect sense to me, but I'm not even sure we gave Coach Mack a call. Thanks again Ron

You know Ron wasn't going to go for another Xavier coach after Skip and Dino ruined the culture at Wake.

Seems like some either don't give us enough credit and act like we never had a really good program or they give us too much credit and say we were a national power. We were a good, solid program for years in the toughest league in the college basketball, nothing more or less.
