LSU Football in Trouble

I think the thread title is incorrect. "Everything but LSU Football in Trouble" would be better. They're more likely to close the rest of the university so the football team can play than shut everything down or cut the athletic budget.

lol yeah right.

LSU will not shut down it's football team no matter what.

That's just scare tactics from their gov wanting to get his budget passed.

They have quite the budget shortfall and it's been forecast for a while. LSU will play but it seems they do have a serious financial issue as a state

Well, you know what they say, you can run up 19 trillion dollars in debt as a country and nobody bats an eye, but when the states run out of money to support their big time college football programs, the shit gets real.

Why don't we just admit it--none of us wishes we went to a glorified high school like LSU, but we envy that football program.

A billion here......a billion there.......soon, you're talking real money

It's not that football can't fund itself. Actually it makes more money than it spends. Issue is that if school closes early, players would be ineligible.

Yes. LSU needs to continue to operate in order to field a football program.

Yes, it's one of those technicalities. LSU, as a University is the member of the NCAA and the SEC. Therefore, if the university is not operating, the football team doesn't get to play.

So, Bobby Jindal won't be HHS Secretary in the Trump Administration?

Just like anything else associated with SEC football, they make big money so they will not be shut down. They might shut down psychology, sociology or theater classes and quit paying their professors as they don't bring in any money to the universities and just cost money. Football on the other hand, especially in the Power 5 pay for lots of other things on college campuses and help keep the lights on.

LOLs. Students to pay tuition just for football tickets.

They pay tuition by the credit hour not by the touchdown whether actually go to class or not. Professors bring plenty of money and that doesn't even include research.
